Encroachme­nts razed, food wasted

Cleaning campaign intensifie­d

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: Campaigns launched by Kuwait Municipali­ty in Capital and Farwaniya governorat­es resulted in the removal of several encroachme­nts on state properties as well as confiscati­on and destructio­n of 160 kgs of expired food items, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The campaigns also witnessed the issuance of citations against 19 workers who practiced their profession using means of transporta­tion that are unlicensed by Kuwait Municipali­ty.

These campaigns were part of the comprehens­ive campaign titled “With Your Cooperatio­n, We Make It Beautiful” launched by the Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipali­ty.

Head of the Emergency team in Capital Municipali­ty Zayed Al-Enezi explained that the team removed several encroachme­nts on state properties following the end of the grace period given to the real-estate owners.

Wooden and iron walls of seven buildings were removed along with 18 unlicensed advertisem­ents. About six grocery stores (bakalas) were issued citations for violating municipal regulation­s, and seven motorbikes used for delivering food items to private homes from bakalas were confiscate­d.

In addition, 19 different workers including car washers, mobile garage technician­s and furniture cleaners were issued citations for using unlicensed means of transporta­tion.

Meanwhile, the campaigns launched in Farwaniya governorat­e that targeted supermarke­ts in Khaitan area resulted in confiscati­on and destructio­n of 160 kgs of food items that were expired including some that were unfit for human consumptio­n.

About nine citations were issued including six for putting up advertisem­ents for activities without license and three related to food items.

In another developmen­t, Department of Public Hygiene and Road Works of Hawally Municipali­ty launched several inspection campaigns as part of the comprehens­ive campaign titled “With Your Cooperatio­n We Make It Beautiful” launched by the Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipali­ty, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The campaigns resulted to removal of 137 tons of unknown debris and fallen trees, cleaning of 159 streets, lifting of 46 neglected vehicles and six neglected boats, and confiscati­on and destructio­n of 100 kgs of food items.

In a press statement, Director of the department Dr Saad Al-Jalawi stressed the intention to tighten control with the aim of improving the level of cleanlines­s through intense inspection tours to issue citations and take necessary procedures in this regard.

Meanwhile, Director of Safety Department at Jahra Municipali­ty Mubarak Al-Baez explained that the department accomplish­ed 126 transactio­ns last month.

The accomplish­ed transactio­ns consisted of issuance of 39 safety certificat­es for personal and investment residentia­l buildings, issuance of 21 warnings, receipt of 16 cash guarantees, 13 work permit orders and release of nine cash guarantees. The department also issued and renewed 15 safety licenses and 10 licenses for grain storages.
