Doctors to sue MoH:

Several Kuwaiti doctors are in the process of filing a lawsuit against the Ministry of Health, which is the first of its kind, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The lawsuit centers on the different criteria of employment, such as refusing to appoint them while employing expatriate doctors in the same specialization.

Sometimes it so happens that both doctors (the expatriate and the Kuwaiti) have qualified from the same university where the expatriate gets the job and the Kuwaiti doesn’t.

The source pointed this lawsuit will bring about what he called the ‘tsunami of lawsuits’.

The source indicated the Kuwaiti doctor is required to be a graduate from international universities and this is a prerequisite for his employment.

The source added Kuwaiti graduates from Arab universities, such as Jordan and Egypt are not appointed while expatriate doctors who have graduated from the universities of their countries get the job.

The source pointed out Article 26 of the Constitution provides that public services are a national service entrusted to those who hold them. Foreigners are not granted public office except in the cases prescribed by law.

‘Haris’ steals rent:

The caretaker of a building in Nugra area was arrested after he was accused of betraying the trust of the building owner and misappropriating the collected

rents, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to security sources, a citizen lodged a complaint at Nugra Police Station, explaining that a building caretaker who works for him had disappeared with KD 4,100 which was the total rent he collected from the tenants of the building. The citizen provided the police with the details of the suspect. The case was then referred to Nugra Investigations team.

Investigations conducted by the team revealed the suspect was hiding in the house of one of his relatives in the same area. A trap was initiated which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

In the investigations office, he confessed to stealing the money, explaining that he had an urgent personal matter that led him to use the rent money.

He was also discovered to be in violation of the Residency Law and there was a financial case filed against him.
