Parliamentary grilling is unjustified: Al-Marzouk
111 citizens dismissal from KNPC false
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 20: The Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Eng Issam Al-Marzouk said his parliamentary grilling is unjustified and added he has not violated the laws nor rules and regulations, reports Al-Qabas daily
Al-Marzouk said he has told the MPs more than one time to show his misdeeds because this is the role of the MPs and all that we work for is the interests of the citizens.
Al-Marzouq denied information published by local daily that the Kuwait National Petroleum Company has dismissed 111 Kuwaitis from the Local Marketing Department. He described it as false and vowed to take action against the publisher.
He pointed out 200 Kuwaitis were working with contractors at the Shuaiba refinery and have now been appointed in other refineries, although we have the right to tell them to ‘go to your homes’ but we appointed them in refineries and in marketing department. He added, the KNPC helped the Kuwaitis and did not lay them off.
Al-Marzouq said the exchange of executive positions, mainly the CEO at EQUATE is in accordance with the agreement of the two main partners, the Petrochemical Industries Company and the Dow Chemical.
Meanwhile, the head of the union of workers in the National Petroleum Company Ammar Saud Al-Ajmi announced he will present a clear evidence at a conference next week which will be attended by MPs about the replacement of foreign workers, reports Annahar daily.
He added, expatriates continue to be hired in spite of the programmed and systematic policy to replace the expatriates and change the labor structure with the company.
He went on to say there are more than 100 Kuwaitis whose services have been terminated and they have been transferred to the Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company, which will be operated after nearly 4 years.
This is a clear sign that trained national labor has been replaced by 800 Indian laborers with monthly salary of KD 1,500 in employments degrees up to Grade 14.
He added there are about 16 gas stations in Kuwait managed by expatriates without the presence of any Kuwaiti employee hired either by the company or the (operator) contractor who runs these stations.
He added, this department is subjected to deliberate pressure to prevent the employment of nationals.
The Customs General Department received a letter from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) on referring 97 employees for retirement by the end of this year, reports Al- Qabas daily quoting a reliable source.
The source explained this is in response to the request of the department on the retirement of 97 employees including the Air Customs Department director, North Ports Department director, some supervisors, heads of departments, inspectors and customs auditors.
The source disclosed the last working day for these employees will be on Dec 31, 2017; adding the decision aims to pump new blood to develop the Customs General Department.
