‘Arab world oblivious to conspiracies’

Kurdistan referendum to stir more turmoil

-

“THE events related to the organization of a popular referendum in Kurdistan, North Iraq, for the separation from the Republic of Iraq are currently accelerating,” columnist Hamad Saleh Al-Qattan wrote for Annahar daily.

“Some of the Iraqi political figures are among the supporters and opponents of this separation, as many of the sons of Iraq, in all their sects have agreed to reject the referendum for secession, in addition to the countries surrounding Kurdistan.

“This in addition to the Turkish military maneuvers on the Iraqi-Kurdish border, and rejection by Iran as well, but it seems only the Zionist entity favors the separation and calls for the division of Iraq into three countries on ethnic and sectarian basis.

“As a matter of fact, the idea of division is nothing new for the Muslims. In this context, we elucidate that since the conclusion of Sykes/Picot Agreement between Britain and France which was concluded in 1916 and contained an undeclared condition calling for the division of the Arab world.

“To emulate the purport of the said agreement, the former US Secretary of State and former National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice along with Bernard Louis had declared in 2006 their scheme to redivide the Middle East under the name ‘The New Middle East’.

“This scheme was seemingly engineered to divide the countries to weaken them politically and economically and promote political and doctrinal struggles among them.

“In this connection, we cite the example of Sudan which has been divided into the North and the South. This current scheme is aimed at dividing Iraq and follow the example of the previous Yemen – the country that was prior to 1990 was divided where the northern part was called ‘The Yemen Arab Republic’ and the southern part was known as ‘The Yemen Democratic and Social Republic’.

“In spite of the above and although the Westerners are currently feeling proud of the schemes aimed at dividing the Arab world, we found the Arab and Muslim countries paying no concern. Moreover, both the Arabs and Muslims have yet to realize that the relevant conspiracy is bigger than they imagine.

“Not just that, we found some Arabs and Muslims involved in taking part in the implementation of this conspiracy and the last aspect of the latter is applicable to Kurdistan in Iraq.

“In this context, we cite the statement that has been attributed recently to the Iraqi security and military expert Wafeeq Al-Samaraei who is also the former director of the Directorate of Iraqi Military Intelligence and Advisor to the former Iraqi president Jalal Al-Talabani for National Security Affairs.

“He was quoted as saying, ‘The relationship between Mustafa Al-Barzani (the father of the incumbent president of Kurdistan province of Northern Iraq Masoud Al-Barzani) certainly existed since 1966 when the Israeli military experts were in North Iraq and were working at the special premises of Mustafa Al-Barzani.

“However, for the time being, the Israeli military experts are currently stationed in Irbil, north of Iraq and the Salahuddin Governorate working for the special intelligence apparatus of Masoud Al-Barzani.

“As a matter of fact, the Zionist/American incursion into our Islamic world was prevalent

since a long time ago, but it is needless to say this existence developed more than the traditional imperialism.

“This existence is not at military level because the implementation of the scheme of new imperialism is undertaken by some people from some Islamic countries which are eagerly looking forward to occupy senior posts in their countries as well as those who are striving to make a lot of money through their involvements in terms of implementing the schemes in question.

“Returning to the prospective referendum to be held in North Iraq, some analysts say the referendum and the insistence shown by Masoud Al-Barzani to implement the same, is a gift from the heaven to the Iraqi people because this referendum shall pave the way to bring down Barzani and eventually get rid of him for good, because there is no real mutual understanding with him since 1991. Moreover, he is accused of involvement in brutal crimes against the Arab Iraqis and Kurds.

“Given the above, we wonder, if the downfall of Masoud Al-Barzani is imminent, particularly under the regional struggle between the axis that comprises Baghdad, Tehran, Ankara and Damascus and the opposing axis comprising Barzani, Israel and some of the US decision makers. Or will the scheme be carried out and eventually result in dividing Iraq into three states and give birth to hostility against each other?”

“I am here to write independently, because I am neither reflecting the viewpoint of any specific State nor that of any specific party and I am not adopting the viewpoint of any individual who are involved in the issue,” columnist Dr Humoud Al-Hattab wrote for Al-Seyassah daily.

“Such being the case, my viewpoint over the separation of Kurdistan from Iraq, shall remain independent and separated from the current Arab reality, because my viewpoint in this connection is based on the prospective associations of the issue and its political dimensions at regional levels.

“Citing the Kurdish claim that ‘we belong to Kurdish ethnicity and have no homeland’ is totally rejected because the homelands throughout the world are currently distributed on political basis and as such recognized by the international community on this basis which govern the charters, contracts and constitutions.

“In this context, we would like to point out that our planet is full of ethnic minorities and if every minority asks for separation from its homeland, then we shall find the United States of America, Britain, France and Spain in addition to many other countries divided on ethnic basis.

“But it is needless to say this logic is rejected because various ethnicities currently co-exist in their own independent states as citizens enjoying all their rights and are always ready to defend their homeland by all means for the sake of protecting their future.

“And whereas, the Kurds are currently saying that Iraq has been transformed into a sectarian state and there will be no place for them under a sectarian regime, this reality represents a very dangerous problem and this means the United Nations must intervene to deal with the same.

“With regard to the political aspect of the Iraqi Kurdistan province and the Turkish rejection of the independence of this province, this rejection is attributed to some grounds which are known for all and revolved around the Turkish Kurdistan Labor Party and the latter’s sabotage and terrorist activities in Turkey.

“Given the above, Turkey realizes that the referendum to be held in North Iraq for the separation from the Republic of Iraq and if the outcome of the referendum is endorsed by the United Nations, this will certainly result in the Kurdish Labor Party of Turkey tickling the emotions of the Kurds in Turkey and instigate their racism in a bid to encourage them to seek a similar referendum in Turkey for separation from the Turkish Kurdish area of Diyar Bakr.

“Apart from the above, we say the adoption of a Kurdish State in Iraq along the Iraqi/ Turkish border, will certainly generate a lot of problems and challenges for Turkey and this represents something very dangerous.”

“With the beginning of each school year prior to opening the schools’ doors, officials from Ministry Education declare that the preparations have been completed and the schools are only waiting for the students to attend classes so that they begin their school year with no problems at all,” Abdulaziz Khuraibet wrote for Al-Shahed daily.

“As usual, the main problems prevalent in the schools are maintenance, air conditioning issues, administrative and technical failure (gaps) in some schools as well as negligence by officials towards complaints over the lack of response in all schools.

“The preparations are seen only in the statements issued by the officials. This scenario occurs every year with the beginning of the new school year. The same statements are issued but most often, there are schools that are not prepared such as the manager’s office, classrooms and grounds.

“According to some sources, a number of employees who retired from the ministry last year had taken everything in his/her office such as furniture such as chairs, tables and curtains.”

“Many Kuwaitis believe the embassies of Kuwait in the countries and destinations they visit are considered as their legislative representative and guardian in case they commit crimes, create problems or become involved in illegal manner,” Abdullah Al-Najjar wrote for Al-Qabas daily.

“These people are under the assumption that the embassies overseas are meant to serve them, forgetting that the main role of these embassies is to deal with political manner, exchange contacts with those countries, arrange the visits of officials in both countries and deal with viewpoints.

“Such a belief among people did not exist 25 years ago. I do not remember any Kuwaiti, who travelled for touristic, commercial, educational or health purposes, asking for help from the Kuwaiti embassy in that country. They would go to the embassy only if they lost their passport.

“However, we find the embassy being approached for situations such as when the jewelry of a Kuwaiti bride was stolen in Malaysia, when a Kuwaiti woman was caught shoplifting in Turkey and her family asked the embassy for help, or when one was assaulted or battered or when one was caught in a drunken state and involved in a brawl in London, and whose brother libeled the Kuwaiti ambassador and staff of the Kuwaiti embassy for their lack of intervention and assistance.

“The latest of such Kuwaiti comedies and mockeries is the complaint raised by a Kuwaiti family who were trapped in Florida due to Hurricane Irma and had compared the action of Kuwaiti embassy and other embassies of the Gulf countries.”
