KSA marks 87th National Day

-

Speech of the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Kuwait Dr Abdul-Aziz Ibrahim Al-Fayez on the occasion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s 87th National Day

“EVERY first day of Libra which falls on Sept 23 each year, we remember our glorious day in our national history — the day that crowned a great national epic through the declaration of the founding king, the late King Abdulaziz Abdul-Rahman Al Saud, on the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1923.

With every dear national occasion concerning each Saudi national — male and female, we remember the sacrifice of our forefathers who established and greatly contributed to building and glorifying this major entity which motivates everyone to preserve it and the gains this nation has achieved through the wisdom of its leadership and the hands of its sincere children.

After the unification, the founder of the Kingdom went on to put it on the heights of extensive growth. It continues to thrive in every field — politically, economically, socially, culturally and academically

Following in the founder’s footsteps, his obedient children completed the journey by building on the principles that he cemented. This continued through the late kings — Saud, Faisal, Khaled, Fahad and Abdulaziz, may Almighty Allah have mercy on their souls. They built, developed and modernized the Kingdom in various fields; always adhering to the principles and values of the founding King, while defending the Islamic creed and devoting their lives to serve the nation and its people.

During the reign of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Kingdom proceeded with its development and modernization journey in all aspects. It is now living its blooming and prosperous era with the determination to accomplish and build in order to provide every means of luxury to its citizens.

His auspicious era started with development of the administrative structure, which has put the Kingdom on promising heights of success and luxury. He proved his determination to invest in all national resources in the service of the nation and its citizens.

In the last few months, the national transformation strategy of the Kingdom was launched — ‘Vision 2030’. It is the vision of the present and the future, signaling the Kingdom’s entry to a new stage of economic development; including diversification of income sources, improving performance of the government, and ensuring that citizens enjoy prosperity and luxury.

This vision and the national strategy are manifestations of the aspirations of the Kingdom. They reflect the ability of our country, affirming that the Kingdom’s future is promising.

The King, may Almighty Allah protect him, managed to propel the Kingdom towards advancement in various fields through his extensive experience in political and administration affairs. He did this despite recent regional and international incidents and the circumstances surrounding the region.

This has prompted the Kingdom to preserve its international status, given that it is one of the 20 most influential countries in the world — both politically and economically.

During this era, the King dealt with issues concerning the two worlds, Arabs and Muslims. He exhausted all means to support friendly nations through the capacity of the wise leadership based on firm principles and fundamentals derived from the Islamic creed and Arab values in dealing with issues concerning nations. Through active diplomacy, he led efforts in local and international spectrums to promote security and peace in the region and the entire world. These efforts were crowned by the hosting of the Arab-Islamic-American Summit in May this year.

With the ascension to power of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Kingdom entered a new stage of foreign political spectrum characterized by facing local and international schemes aimed at dominating and spreading foreign influence in the region.

The Kingdom became aware of these dangers, so it made the first move towards responding to the call of the legitimate authority in Yemen. It led an Arab coalition through the ‘Determination Storm Operation’ to fight against armed rebel groups in Yemen which tried to dominate the State institutions by making them the centers of foreign influence. This was followed by the operation to ‘restore hope’ for the people of Yemen.

Since its establishment, the Kingdom has been playing pivotal role in the region and in the international community through Islamic statute and Arab profoundness; considering it is the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques which receive special attention from the Saudi leadership.

The Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah has been witnessing major expansion and construction works throughout their history; whereas the custodian of these mosques — King Salman Abdulaziz — inaugurated the first phase of the expansion projects in Makkah to allow pilgrims visiting the House of Allah (Ka’aba) to perform their rituals simply and easily.

The Kingdom is expediting procedures to complete the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and the Two Holy Mosques’ train services among other infrastructure projects that serve the holy places.

Crowning the efforts of the Kingdom in caring for the Two Holy Mosques, the success of this year’s Hajj season ascertained that the Kingdom’s leadership in the organization plan for Hajj was a remarkable success witnessed by the whole world. It was the most ‘eloquent’ response to those who cast doubt on the ability of the Kingdom to organize such a great event.

In the fields of development and humanitarian work, the Kingdom took the initiative, through its religious and humanitarian obligations, to support development works in every corner of the world. The total amount it has given in the last four decades reached $139 billion. Last year, the Kingdom’s humanitarian endeavor led to the construction of King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Work.”
