KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: Gulf Bank was pleased to join with the Kuwait Heart Foundation (KHF) to mark ‘World Heart Day’, an international day of awareness about the importance of living a heart healthy lifestyle. This year’s theme is ‘Share The Power’ and focuses on how, by sharing knowledge, we can inspire people to live longer and healthier lives.

Activities are happening around the world to mark the day; here in Kuwait, Gulf Bank and the Kuwait Heart Foundation held a press conference to reach the widest possible audience with key messages about how to be heart healthy. Furthermore, the Kuwait Heart Foundation offered employees of the Bank free onsite health check-ups and medical assessments. Specialized doctors provided health assessments that included taking blood pressure readings; checking blood sugar and cholesterol levels; evaluating weight and body mass index, and then providing employees with a detailed health report and immediate one-on-one consultations with the Doctor.

Highlighting the importance of marking the day, Antoine Daher, CEO of Gulf Bank, said: “We are committed to ensuring members of the Gulf Bank family maintain a healthy work-life balance, and are happy that our friends at the Kuwait Heart Foundation provided our employees with important health screenings. Encouraging people to live a healthy and active lifestyle is also an important pillar of our corporate social responsibility strategy. By marking ‘World Heart Day’ together with the Kuwait Heart Foundation we also raised awareness of the fact that cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke, are the world’s biggest killer, but the power to have a healthy heart is in every individual’s hands. We thank the Kuwait Heart Foundation for working with us to mark this important day.”

World Heart Day is celebrated on Sept 29 each year, and is a platform for communities to fight against cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and reduce the global diseases burden.
