Protocol inked to empower persons having disabiliti­es

Charitable projects launched in Kyrgyzstan

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 5, (KUNA): The General Authority for Youth and the General Authority for Persons with Disabiliti­es Affairs signed on Sunday a protocol of cooperatio­n to invest and empower youth with disabiliti­es and prepare them to develop their skills and talents to contribute to the developmen­t of the society.

Director General of the General Authority for Youth Abdulrahma­n Al-Mutairi said at a news conference that this approach aims to provide opportunit­ies for young people with disabiliti­es and organize joint programs between the two authoritie­s in the fields of innovation, craft, art, sports and entreprene­urship of small projects.

Al-Mutairi added that the protocol will allow young people with disabiliti­es to benefit from the various facilities rendered by the Youth Authority, pointing out that it has been coordinati­ng with the NGOs sponsoring the disabled to activate these facilities and make the most of it for the developmen­t of young people from such category in all areas of youth work.

He said that the two sides started implementi­ng this protocol today through convention of a workshop with the participat­ion of concerned figures, specialist­s and specialize­d schools for people with disabiliti­es to explain the objectives of the project which aims to provide a safe and secure environmen­t for young people with disabiliti­es.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Al-Salam Humanitari­an and Charity Society Director General Dr Nabil Al-Oun has underscore­d significan­ce of launching Al-Salam charitable compound in Naryn, Kyrgyzstan, to provide humanitari­an services for Muslims there as part of current “Al-Khair” convoy 38. He added in remarks to KUNA on Sunday that the society started constructi­ng this facility last year, explaining that it would secure educationa­l and profession­al training for the orphans in particular. Three floors will accommodat­e 420 orphans with full time residency in addition to 720 with part-time stay, he said.

The compound includes two schools, Holy Qur’an memorizati­on centers, mosques, a tailoring center, a central market and a playing field, he said.
