KUWAIT CITY, Nov 8: Customs officers at Nuwaiseeb border point foiled an attempt by a passenger to smuggle 50 boxes of cigarettes estimated at KD 24,000 to Saudi Arabia. The officers seized the items and ordered the passenger to obtain customs clearance. A case was registered.

Meanwhile, officers from the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Police Station apprehended three citizens in possession of illicit drugs and paraphernalia. A security source said the officers spotted the suspects in a vehicle and ordered the motorist to pull over for checking. They found the illicit substance in the process.

Child hurt: A 12-year old Kuwaiti child sustained injuries in the head and hand when he was hit by a speeding motorist in front of his family’s residence in Sulaibikhat area, says Al-Seyassah. A security source said rescue men went to the scene after the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received information about the incident and followed up when they learnt the motorist had already taken the boy to Sabah Hospital for treatment.

While at the hospital, the motorist told officers the boy appeared on the road suddenly and he couldn’t help hitting him. A case was registered for investigation.

Meanwhile, an Indian expatriate lodged a complaint at Jleeb Shuwaikh Police Station against the driver of a US-made vehicle who knocked him down and escaped. He provided the police medical report showing injuries he sustained as a result of the incident.
