Kuwaitis honoured as Media Mondial kicks off in Cairo

Int’l sports confab serves women on many levels: Sheikha Naeema

CAIRO, Nov 9, (KUNA): The sixth Cairo Artworks and Media Mondial kicked off late Tuesday under the slogan “Terror will not break us” in the presence of a large number of prominent art and media figures from Egypt and the Arab world.

“I welcome all Arabs guests in Egypt, especially artists, media people and writers,” said Ibrahim Abu Zekri, head of the Union of Arab Producers and president Mondial.

He pointed out that the four-day event brings together artists and media people from across the Arab world.

A total of 750 media and art products are vying for the Mondial awards, he said.

During the opening ceremony, the event organizers honored head of Kuwait’s delegation Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Informatio­n for Radio Affairs Sheikh Fahd Mubarak Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

In addition to Sheikh Fahd, the Kuwaiti delegation includes the Director of Bernamj Al-Am radio channel Saad Al-Fandi and Director of producing and operation department at Channel 1 of Kuwait’s state TV.

In statements to KUNA on the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Al-Fandi said that Kuwait, represente­d by the Ministry of Informatio­n, participat­ed in the Mondial with 52 radio and television works.

He described Kuwait’s participat­ion in various Arab festivals as distinct because of the richness of Kuwaiti radio and television shows.

He also expressed confidence that Kuwaiti works would snatches prizes and advanced places in the Mondial’s various contests.

Meanwhile, the Internatio­nal Conference of Sports for Women (ICSW) serves women on many levels, Sheikha Naeema Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, head of the GCC organizati­onal committee for women sports said Tuesday.
