38 African, Asian sex workers caught in 19 Jleeb brothels
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 9: Intensive inspection campaigns conducted in various governorates in the last 48 hours resulted in the arrest of 150 individuals in civil, financial and criminal cases including trading in drugs and alcohol.
This is in compliance with the instruction of acting Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah to track down criminals.
According to a security source, the Public Security Sector arrested 56 persons wanted by law in the Capital Governorate. He said the cases include absconding, hawking and violation of the Residency Law, indicating four of those arrested are involved in financial cases.
In Farwaniya Governorate, a Syrian was arrested in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh for the possession of hashish, heroin and knife. Five Egyptians were arrested for involvement in financial cases, two Asians for trading in alcohol and 20 individuals who violated the Residency Law.
In Hawally Governorate, 30 persons were arrested for involvement in financial and criminal cases – one of them is a Kuwaiti woman who failed to pay debt amounting to KD8,000 in addition to seven Kuwaiti drug addicts, two Iranians who had heroin and drug paraphernalia in their possession and several others who violated the Residency and Labor laws.
In Jahra Governorate, five persons were arrested for possessing narcotics and they were referred to the Drug Control General Department.
In Ahmadi Governorate, 12 persons were arrested – four for possessing alcohol and drugs and eight who are wanted by law for involvement in financial and criminal cases.
In Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, 15 persons involved in financial and criminal cases were arrested.
Sex workers caught: Director General of Farwaniya Security Command Major General Saleh Matar received report from Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station indicating the officers have successfully shut down 19 brothels within the vicinity, reports Al-Anba daily.
The report added that 38 African and Asian sex workers were arrested and referred to the deportation center; alongside 600 other male and
female expatriates arrested for various offenses.
The officers raided 8 local liquor factories and confiscated 30,000 readymade bottles of the contraband, which have since been destroyed.
I am Superman!: An Indian man employed by a private hospital as a laboratory technician jumped from the eighth floor of a building. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to the spouse, the man exhibited an unusual attitude at the initial stage but she took it serious when they engaged in an argument and he suddenly claimed having the ability to fly and attempted to prove it.

Filipina in funds scam: Security operatives attached to Hawalli Command apprehended a Filipina wanted for 10 different financial related offenses. She was referred to Civil Sentences Execution Department, says Al-Rai daily.
A security source said patrol officers aroused suspicion of the woman when she tried to escape upon sighting them within the surrounding buildings. They kept monitoring her movement and caught up with her. She could not produce any form of identification when the officers requested her ID. They verified her status through fingerprint and discovered she was wanted for financial offense.
Rumours rejected: Kuwait Municipality has denied rumor circulated
on social media saying the ministry is implementing KD 100,000 fine and six months imprisonment penalty against hawking. The information was contained in a blog on the official Kuwait Municipality Twitter handle, reports Al-Shahed daily.
‘Sheik’ kin promoted: While the Public Prosecution continues to investigate the owner of Twitter account ‘sheik’ who was arrested for posting false news, a knowledgeable source said it is surprising that a female relative of the suspect, identified only as ‘Sh’, was promoted in the Health Ministry, reports Al-Rai daily.
The source revealed a decision was issued on Sept 11 to transfer ‘Sh’ to another department. After less than two months, ‘Sh’ was promoted as division head in another department, the source added.
