‘Online automation protects rights of expatriate workers’

Hiring labourers will be based on actual need

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 9: Acting Director General of Public Authority for Manpower Ahmad Al-Mousa affirmed the significan­ce of online automation in protecting the rights of expatriate workers, and added the latter will not be exploited or compromise­d by the labor recruitmen­t offices, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Al-Mousa declared this after a meeting with the new Labor Adviser at the Embassy of Egypt Ahmad Yousef saying the authority is keen on protecting the rights of workers and hopes for further cemented cooperatio­n with the Egyptian counterpar­ts in that regard. He reiterated the authority is serious about hiring workers based on actual need for each profession, while educating them on their rights and duties within the local market.

Meanwhile, the Administra­tive and Financial Affairs Department at Public Authority for Manpower has sent a letter to Labor Sector represente­d by Head of Financial Guarantees to stop referring company owners for refund of sums deposited as security. He added employees are bearing the ramificati­ons of its inability to refund sums worth thousands of dinars, reports Al-

Sources noted a circular was issued by the sector due to the dilemma employees find themselves in each time the owners of companies demand refund of their money.

They stressed the owners of companies in question have fulfilled all procedures and submitted relevant documents without getting back sums they paid as security to the sector after many months.
