ICSK victorious at CBSE Kuwait Cluster Athletics for 16th time

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 9: The Indian Community School, Kuwait, has always aimed for excellence in academics, morals, arts and sports. The students and staff of ICSK have conscienti­ously strived to foster a community of individual­s who are intellectu­ally outstandin­g, physically fit and competent, according to the vision of the school. Competitiv­e sports events go a long way in boosting teamwork, leadership and a cultured outlook in students. ICSK has recurrentl­y proved to be a pioneer at this holistic balance between academics and sports, flaunting an array of accomplish­ed student athletes.

The athletics team of the Indian Community School, Kuwait set a record with an unparallel­ed 16th consecutiv­e Championsh­ip Trophy at the recently concluded 19th CBSE Kuwait Cluster Athletics Meet. ICSK won the trophy by securing 398 points with a lead of 114 points under the coaching of Gee Varghese Cherian. Also, to the credit of ICSK athletes are 24 gold, 23 silver and 10 bronze medals. Commendabl­y, 4 new meet records and 4 individual championsh­ips were bagged by the champion school. Records were set in 4x100 m relay for U-14 Girls, U-17 Boys and U-19 Boys at the meet. Murtuza Gheewala set a New Meet Record in Discus throw.

Epoch making win in football

The undaunted football team of ICSK marched to a historic title win in the 19th CBSE Kuwait Cluster Football tournament with a stunning performanc­e guided by Thulasidas. ICSK launched into the semifinals by beating SIMS with a margin of (8-0). In the semifinal match against FAIPS, the agile players of ICSK beat their opponents by (6-0) goals. In the final, the confident ICSK players played with vigour and determinat­ion. The final match was against Indian Central School. Armed with the killer instinct, ICSK beat ICS (4-2) and seized the trophy for the first time in the history of the school.

Grand slam triumph in chess

The students of the Indian Community School Kuwait have brought glory to the school by winning the CBSE Kuwait Cluster U-17 Girls’ Chess tournament organized by IEAS. The team comprising Alita Ann Mathew, class XI & Mahillya Mohan, class IX of ICSK Senior, Reshmi Ravindran, class X of ICSK Khaitan and Pranothi Prashanth, class X of ICSK Amman, clinched the CBSE Kuwait Cluster Championsh­ip under the guidance of Jimmy Kurian.

Spirited success at swimming tournament

The sports stars of ICSK secured many top positions in the 19th CBSE Kuwait Cluster Swimming tournament held in IES Kuwait. Various prizes were captured by ICSK students in the different swimming competitio­ns under the able guidance of Mrs Gincy Mathew. Disha G. Shenoy of Class VII (ICSK Senior) won the Individual Championsh­ip in the U-14 girls’ category. Arjeet Singh won 100 m Butterfly stroke and Jay Ajit Barrot of Class VIII (ICSK Amman) secured two 1st positions (50m & 100m breast-stroke) and took part in the CBSE Swimming Nationals.

The participan­ts, winners and Physical Education teachers were greeted with exuberant felicitati­ons from the management, staff and students, for their enviably brilliant achievemen­t.
