‘Informatics Award’ launches 17th edition
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 13: Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award launched its 17th edition with a new initiative titled (Digitalizing Information) in line with vision 2015-2020.
Early fruit of the new initiative will come to light through its participation in the 42nd Kuwait Book Fair slated for Wednesday Nov 15.
In a press release, head of the organizing committee of the award Engineer Bassam Al-Shimmari stated the initiative is derived from the vision of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to transform Kuwait to an international financial and commercial hub.
For her part, member of the supreme organizing committee of the award and coordinator of the activities committee Dr Safa’a Zaman said participation in the Kuwait Book Fair is in the framework of cooperation with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters to promote reading and intellectual production.
Disbursement
Research Sector at Kuwait University has considered suspending the disbursement of research petty cash to applicants from various faculties, starting from Dec 14, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The daily quoting a source added the sector took the decision based on a circular issued by Ministry of Finance directing the closure of accounts for the fiscal year, indicating the ministry ordered necessary personal custody funds should be reconciled while returning the remaining sum before the last working day of the current fiscal year 2017/2018.
He reiterated the sector’s intention to reconcile all petty cash paid to academic staff before the end of work on Jan 31 to prevent deducting the value of petty cash from February and March 2018 salaries, in case any academic staff fails to provide relevant documents.
Meanwhile, Research Sector has sent a circular informing that all research grant application forms filled by hand will not be processed henceforth.
He urged researchers to print out typed grant application forms approved by chairmen of concerned departments and ratified by the vice deans for research affairs in their respective faculties.
