Kuwait City Marthoma Parish Carmel group conducts picnic

-

The cool November breeze and the spacious Fintas garden were the perfect combination for the much awaited Carmel group picnic. The picnic idea was brought forward by the secretary, Ajesh Thomas and group officials, namely Raju Kurukavelil and Thomas Oommen. All members agreed upon the date of Nov 10.

Upon arrival at the garden, the Carmel family picnic got underway with the opening prayer by Thomas Oommen followed by some delicious sandwiches and juices for breakfast which was arranged by the food

Jithu George, the games coordinator, had formed three teams, red, blue and yellow to ensure friendly competitiveness. He kick-started things off with a laughter filled ice breaker game. A variety of games followed like the tricky water-balloon pass and others which tested the mind, strength and the unity of the teams. Kids, teens and adults of all ages were also immersed in the highly popular and fun filled game of lemon ‘n’ spoon.

If there was any low energy or tiredness, it all vanished at the sight of the lip smacking and sumptuous lunch of Arabic grilled meats and salads. It was no surprise then that the lunch vanished faster than one could say ‘Fintas’. Before winding up, prizes were distributed for the joint winners, blue and yellow teams and runner’s up, red.

The captains Jose (red), Ajesh (blue) and Ajit (yellow) were all smiles as they collected their prizes from Johnkutty, Mrs Anu and Raju Kurukavelil respectively.

A vote of thanks was given by Ajesh, who thanked the three teams and their captains for their efficiency and support. He also extended his appreciation to the program conveners, Jithu and Cherian and the food convener Reji for their selfless work in making the picnic a grand success. Ajesh also thanked all the members for coming and sharing their valuable time and making the picnic a memorable one. As always, good things do come to an end, but memories remain for a lifetime.
