Di­rect in­vest­ment among mul­ti­ple deals

Sides re­view re­gional, in­ter­na­tional de­vel­op­ments

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 14, (Agen­cies): His High­ness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ah­mad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah re­ceived at Bayan Palace on Tues­day vis­it­ing Turk­ish Pres­i­dent Re­cep Tayyip Er­do­gan and his ac­com­pa­ny­ing del­e­ga­tion.

The two lead­ers held of­fi­cial talks, which in­cluded se­nior cab­i­net of­fi­cials from both coun­tries. Deputy Min­is­ter of Amiri Di­wan Af­fairs Sheikh Ali Jar­rah Al-Sabah said the talks high­lighted the deeply rooted bi­lat­eral re­la­tions, ways to bol­ster them and means to im­prove co­op­er­a­tion on all fronts. Sheikh Ali added that talks also delved into lat­est de­vel­op­ments on the re­gional and in­ter­na­tional are­nas. Tur­key and Kuwait’s mil­i­tary chiefs of staff held talks on the “de­vel­op­ing and strength­en­ing” mil­i­tary co­op­er­a­tion, ac­cord­ing to KUNA.

The Turk­ish pres­i­dent, who has called for the lift­ing of the sanc­tions against Qatar, is sched­uled to visit Doha on Wed­nes­day.

Kuwait and Tur­key on Tues­day signed a num­ber of agree­ments in a cer­e­mony held at Bayan Palace with both na­tions’ re­spec­tive lead­ers in at­ten­dance.

The cer­e­mony brought to­gether His High­ness the Amir, His High­ness the Prime Min­is­ter Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Ha­mad Al-Sabah and Er­do­gan, where var­i­ous deals were forged be­tween Kuwait and Ankara. Among the agree­ments was a deal for co­op­er­a­tion in sports, in which Kuwait’s Min­is­ter of Com­merce and In­dus­try as well as Act­ing Min­is­ter of State for Youth Af­fairs Khaled AlRoud­han, along with his Turk­ish coun­ter­part Os­man Askin Bak were the sig­na­to­ries.

Mean­while, a mem­o­ran­dum of un­der­stand­ing to en­cour­age bi­lat­eral in­vest­ment was signed by Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Kuwait’s Di­rect In­vest­ment Pro­mo­tion Au­thor­ity Sheikh Dr Me­shaal Al-Sabah and Pres­i­dent of Tur­key’s In­vest­ment Sup­port and Pro­mo­tion Agency Arda Er­mut.

A pro­to­col for co­op­er­a­tion be­tween Kuwait In­sti­tute for Sci­en­tific Re­search (KISR) and Tur­key’s Sci­en­tific and Tech­no­log­i­cal Re­search Coun­cil was also signed, where KISR’s Di­rec­tor Gen­eral Dr Samira Omar and the Pres­i­dent of the Turk­ish na­tional agency Pro­fes­sor Dr Arif Er­gin put their names on the dot­ted line.

Er­do­gan has since de­parted Kuwait af­ter hav­ing held of­fi­cial talks with His High­ness the Amir.

See­ing off the Turk­ish leader at Kuwait In­ter­na­tional Air­port was His High­ness the Amir, Na­tional As­sem­bly Speaker Mar­zouq Al-Ghanim, His High­ness the Prime Min­is­ter Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak AlHa­mad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Pre­mier and For­eign Min­is­ter Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Ha­mad Al-Sabah, Deputy Pre­mier and De­fence Min­is­ter Sheikh Mo­ham­mad AlKhaled Al-Ha­mad Al-Sabah, Amiri Di­wan Deputy Min­is­ter Sheikh Ali Jar­rah Al-Sabah, State Min­is­ter for Cab­i­net Af­fairs and Act­ing In­for­ma­tion Min­is­ter Sheikh Mo­ham­mad Al-Ab­dal­lah Al-Mubarak AlSabah and se­nior staff from the mil­i­tary, po­lice, Na­tional Guard and Fire Ser­vices Direc­torate.
