‘No news on reward for policemen’
Maintaining ‘Muharram’ security
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 14: General Department of Public Relations and Press Security in the Ministry of Interior affirmed that no instructions have been issued concerning the financial reward of the police officers who participated in observing order and security in “husseiniyat”.
The department’s press statement mentioned that the principle of reward, which was emphasized by the ministry’s undersecretary Lt Gen Mahmoud Al-Dosari during an event in honor of officers from the security sector last Thursday for their distinguished performance, was based on overall performance in their duties.
The statement added the culture of honoring officers in the ministry is due to continue in accordance with achievements to encourage the commitment and diligence in the police force.
Concerning the recent news published by “Al-Seyassah” daily on rewarding officers who participated in maintaining order and security in the “husseiniyat”, the statement read that the ministry does not look at other considerations while honoring and rewarding its officers apart from maintaining order and security, which is enough to extol the performance of officers and appreciate their role.
A security source said the ministry in the past used to give financial reward to the police for their participation in maintaining order and security in “husseiniyat”, and concerned officers have been waiting for the reward since the ministerial sectors have already prepared the list of names of those who participated in this year’s operations in and around the “husseiniyats”.
