AOU holds seminar on Korean culture and history
As one of its Knowledge Development Seminars (KDS), the Arab Open University (AOU) in Kuwait hosted H.E. Yoo Yeonchul, Ambassador of Republic of Korea to the State of Kuwait, to give a lecture about the history and culture of Korea. The lecture entitled “Korean Journey — Heartland of Culture & History” was organized by the Office of Assistant Director and attended by AOU academic and administrative staff in addition to its students and people interested in the Korean culture and history.
The Ambassador discussed some facts about Korea, its history and its relationship with Kuwait. Then, the presentation ended with a rich Questions & Answers segment with H.E. the Ambassador, which is the part of KDS that ensures the two-way communication of ideas between the attendees with the presenter.
It is worth mentioning that this seminar was not the first of its kind in AOU. Not more than a week before, on Nov 1st, AOU’s own Assistant Professor of Literature, Dr Maher Ben Moussa gave a presentation titled “Connecting with the Other: Empathy in Tom’s Midnight Garden” which examined the main themes in Philippa Pearce’s novel Tom’s Midnight Garden.
Having such a range of subjects makes the series of Knowledge Development Seminar as varied and refreshing for the mind.
“The KDS was founded to make students understand the importance of research, and actually enjoy the process of research and discussion,” stated Dr Mouhiba Jamousi, a member of AOU’s English Language Faculty.
