KUWAIT CITY, Nov 15: Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs denounces the criminal and heinous activities of Kuwaiti extremists who fought alongside terrorist groups outside the country, says Al-Qabas daily quoting sector Undersecretary Fareed Amadi.

He reaffirmed concerted efforts of the ministry to rehabilitate returnees among them in the prisons and follow up their ideological belief to protect society, so that they don’t become timed bombs anytime later.

Amadi stated the ministry took steps recently to fulfill the objective of forming the Supreme Committee for Consolidation of Moderation. He noted some terrorist elements had been engaged online,

which made it possible to correct some of their wrong concepts.

He indicated the ministry is serious about activating the role played by Imams and preachers to improve their performances through a moderately tolerant approach, civilized methodologies and counseling toward rejuvenating religious speeches and advanced trend.

He assured the ministry has since been keeping record of complaints and intelligence received about some Imams that led to legal and administrative measures against personalities involved.

As regards the possible participation of Kuwaiti women in terrorism, he explained there’s no difference between male and female as far as extremist ideology is concerned, because many women have been caught in the act in many countries. “However, I’m sure that none of our Kuwaiti women are into terrorism, and in case there is any, it’ll be considered rare due to peaceful nature of the country”.
