KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16: Secretary General of Kuwait Medical Association Mohammad Al-Qenai disclosed that government will not be able to operate Jaber Hospital due to inadequate number of medical crew, including doctors, nurses and technicians, reports AlShahed daily.

He noted the total number of doctors working in Kuwait’s public hospitals is 11,000 of which 2,800 are Kuwaitis.

He made the disclosure during an interview telecast on Shahed channel on the program (Till When). He noted three hospitals will be established specially for expatriates as part of plan to reduce the crowd in government hospitals. He said the hospitals for expatriates could be a substitute for increasing the fees for medical service. He called on Government to provide adequate support to doctors to curb their migration or resorting to private sector.

Al-Qenai praised the steps taken by the government to control overseas medical treatment. He noted the decision will contribute to restore the confidence of citizens in Kuwaiti doctors.

Professor of law at the Faculty of Law in Kuwait University Dr Ibrahim Al-Hamoud described the recent traffic decisions as a positive trend pregnant with numerous benefits in the public’s interest, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Professor Al-Hamoud declared the decisions will enforce the potency of traffic law, restore sanity on roads, and help resolve or reduce the rate of traffic accidents. He added traffic accidents have claimed many lives, caused injuries and hindered traffic flow for a very long time. He said many of the stipulations were already in the Constitution and that Minister of Interior only raised the rate of penalties or amended it as deemed fit.

He reaffirmed “it is the right time to implement the law in full force after several years of carelessness on roads where motorists flouted the rules at will, because the penalties and fines were peanuts”. He stressed that “once reckless motorists are now scared stiff by the new penalties and sign of seriousness of the Interior Ministry in its implementation”.

He urged each person opposed to the new decision to read recent studies on traffic carefully to be acquainted with the rate of traffic accidents. He reiterated the Ministry of Interior has the right to enforce whatever law that will protect the roads and ensure the safety of motorists.
