KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16: The Administrative Section at the Court of First Instance ordered the Director General of Public Authority for Handicap Affairs to register the son of a Kuwaiti man who is suffering from medium vision impairment in the right eye as a handicap.

Lawyer Ali Al-Ali representing the plaintiff said the son of his client had a problem with vision in the right eye and underwent series of surgical operations that weakened his vision. He explained the boy can barely identify whether or not there is light, noting there is a sign of blockade in the eye ball and the interior silicon.

He stressed that his client applied for the inclusion of his son in the list of handicapped people but the authority turned down the request without any legal backing. He cited Law No. 8/2010 concerning the rights of handicaps, which guarantee some entitlements in that regard.

Hearing Dec 7: The Criminal Court has fixed Dec 7 to continue hearing on 13 Kuwaitis accused of providing cover for members of Abdali Cell to enable the court summon the prosecution officer.

In the last session, all suspects appeared in the court with their counsels who requested the presence of the prosecution officer. The suspects were earlier confronted with questions concerning the allegation of providing shelter for the convicted members of Abdali Cell to enable them evade justice shortly after the Court of Cassation had delivered the final verdict. They all pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Jail suspended: The Criminal Court has suspended a 10-year jail term with deportation upon completion of term issued in absentia against an expatriate accused of impersonating police to kidnap and rob two Asians. The court dismissed the penal aspect of the case for the period within which the verdict was not executed.

The case file indicated the prime suspect and some individuals were accused of using trick to kidnap the victims after posing as a policeman. The suspects drove the victims to an isolated area and robbed them of their belongings, including money, video player and other official documents after physically assaulting them.

Lawyer Esmat Al-Kharboutli in defense of the prime suspect, urged the court to dismiss the verdict since it happened over 10 years ago. She argued that a verdict is no longer valid if not executed before it exceeds half the duration of the jail term.

Probe to begin: The Public Prosecution will start investigating a Kuwaiti blogger against whom an Emirati national filed a petition for insulting the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and her leaders.

In the petition filed by Al-Asfour on behalf of the plaintiff, the respondent was accused of posting blogs in August and October attacking some Arab countries, especially the UAE. He said the respondent used a program he prepared to attack the UAE, and meddled in her internal affairs. He is alleged to have used derogatory statements to describe the leaders and humiliated them by treading on the dignity of leaders and citizens of the country. He was also accused of posting the recorded clips in batches via social networking sites, including Twitter, snapchat and Instagram.

He stressed the respondent called the leaders and citizens of UAE unprintable names with fabrication of lies that could not be substantiated, with regard to UAE cutting ties with a country to which the respondent is loyal.
