NLB Corporatio­n top FTBK team tournament qualifier

Top 6 teams gear for double round robin finals

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19: At the conclusion of the eliminatio­n stage of the on-going 2017 Season 11 FTBK Tenpin Bowling Team Tournament, the pump specialist­s of NLB Corporatio­n capped an impressive 26-week by emerging on top of the top of the team standings and will step into lanes in the championsh­ip as favorites to walk away with the coveted title. Also gearing up for the rigorous double round robin finals of this tenpin bowling competitio­n organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers Kuwait (FTBK) and held every Friday at the 16-lane Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya are the other equally championsh­ip caliber teams who made it to the Top 6 namely Siete Pares 1, Siete Pares 2, Dyn Aviation, Rock n Bowl and D’ Islanders.

Prior to the week 26 scheduled matches of the qualifying round, NLB Corporatio­n, Siete Pares 1 and Siete Pares 2 are already assured of a finals berth while contesting the remaining 3 seats to the finals are Rock N Bowl, D’s Islanders, IBL Team 2, Dyn Aviation, DMDA come of the match could spell a big difference for the two team’s chances of advancing. In game one IBL Team 1 dish out an 811-691 victory but IBL Team 2 led by Rani Skeik, Abdullah Al Ali, Rudolph Castellino and Nikshita Shetty quickly recover their composure and came back strong with an 800-690 decision in the next game.

Hoping to snatch a trip to the finals, IBL Team 1 with Ali Arqoub, Colin Costa, Valentine Gonsalves, Aji Varghese, Lloyd Fernandes and Uly Menezes once again exploded in game three with an 829-725 win and then went on to end the championsh­ip round hopes of IBL Team 2 by closing out the match with another 806-713 victory in game four. Unfortunat­ely, their 3161-2929 total pin falls victory failed to put IBL Team 1 into the next round.

In the other remaining matches of the week, championsh­ip round contenders Siete Pares 2 and D’ Islanders both kept their place in the Top 6 as the D’ Islanders headed by Aga Cuadrazal, Vernie Villaruel and Janet Shaikh bank on their 787700 and 787-661 victories in games one and four in eking out a 31162997 total pin falls win. Carrying the scoring load for Siete Pares 2 in their 864-752 and 772-739 success in games two and three were Siddharth Nair. Mario santos, Dorcas Sansone and JR Angeles.

Deposed champion K2E2 Thunders meanwhile rolled down the curtain on their stint by beating Rock N Bowl 3116-3073 with the DMDA Bowleros also stopping Siete Pares 1 3069-2871. Despite losing their scheduled matches, Rock N Bowl and Siete Pares 1 neverthele­ss made it to the finals. In a no bearing match Strikers X ended their season 11 campaign with a 3162-2939 win over World Class.

In the Individual Team and High scores the award winners are as follows: Individual High Game Men Group 1 — Ronnel Valencia 285, Men Group 2 — Jowie Concepcion 264, Ladies — Janet Shaikh 245; High Average Men Group 1 — Mousa Abdullah 190 Men Group 2 — Ali Arqoub 178, Ladies — Janet Shaikh 174; Team High Game — Cozmo Salmiya 868 and Team High Series — NLB Corporatio­n 3340.
