Kuwait attends COMCEC 33rd session in Istanbul
Agenda stacked with significant issues
ISTANBUL, Nov 22, (KUNA): Economic experts from a number of Islamic nations, including Kuwait, convened Wednesday for the 33rd session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC).
Kuwait’s delegation to the COMCEC session is headed by it’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Anas Al-Saleh.
To get the session underway, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke of trying times facing Islamic countries, as “improving cooperation among us is essential to offer our people the prosperous life they deserve,” he said.
“Our duty is to transform the Islamic geography into an important production basin with measures aimed at boosting economic, technological and cultural progress,” Erdogan added.
Meanwhile, the COMCEC session’s agenda is stacked with significant issues that run the gamut from the latest economic happenings and agricultural development to the role of the private sector towards economic growth.
Established in 1981, COMCEC is one of the four standing committees of the OIC and convenes annually at a ministerial level in Istanbul.
The Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) touched on vital economic issues pertaining to the Arab and Muslim worlds, said Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Anas Al-Saleh Wednesday. Al-Saleh’s statement to KUNA and Kuwait Television came on the sidelines of his attendence of the meeting, inaugurated earlier by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul.
Established in 1981, the 57-member country COMCEC is one of four Organisation of Islamic Conference standing committees and convenes annually at a ministerial level in Istanbul.
