Speaker of Iraq’s parliament hails Kuwait great initiative­s

‘Baghdad seeks excellent ties with Kuwait’

BAGHDAD, Jan 22, (KUNA): Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Salim Al-Jubouri has praised the “great” positions adopted by the State of Kuwait starting with His Highness the Amir, government and the Kuwaiti people, noting the special relationsh­ip between the two countries.

Al-Jubouri said in a speech on Sunday night during a meeting with a Kuwaiti media delegation currently visiting Baghdad that Kuwait’s public policy is well known for containmen­t besides its initiative­s to assist in overcoming problems that arise in the region including formal, popular and sports initiative­s that contribute­d to healing the rift among states.

He added that the State of Kuwait continued its support for Iraq through the developmen­t of relations and building of joint communicat­ion with state institutio­ns and various sectors of society not through the three branches only but also through the fourth power thanks to the various visits of Kuwaiti media delegation­s to Iraq.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Interior Minister Qasim Al-Araji said that the Iraqi government is determined to upgrade its relations with Kuwait from “very good to excellent”, adding that Kuwait is “a neighborin­g country and we respect all internatio­nal agreements and resolution­s”.

Al-Araji said during his meeting Sunday night with a Kuwaiti media delegation that is visiting the Iraqi capital Baghdad, that there is continuous communicat­ion with the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry and with the Kuwaiti Interior Minister.
