ASSE Kuwait Chapter conducts technical meet
Association strives to provide professional guidance
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 22: American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Kuwait Chapter is a premier voluntary, non-profit Health, Safety and Environmental organization, which strives to provide professional guidance, training, consultancy and resources to the industrial and social sectors in the region.
As a part of continuous efforts in its professional journey, ASSE-Kuwait Chapter organized its 225th technical meet (7th for the term 2017-18) on “Awareness on Project HSE reviews SIMOPS & MOPO” in Kuwait Oil Company Tent on Jan 15, 2018.
The Technical Meet began with the opening address by Sunil N Sadanandan, Chapter Secretary, briefing about the chapter activities. Muhammad Alamgir, President of ASSE Kuwait welcomed the participants and appreciated their participation in the technical meet.
ASSE Kuwait chapter Chairman Fadhel Al Ali highlighted the importance of attending the technical meets. Mazharuddin Shaik, Head of HSE Events Committee introduced the speaker for the tech event Dr Tamer Hafez Said.
Dr Tamer Hafez Said, Sr Technical Process Safety Engineer, HSE Lead and Process Safety SME, Shell Canada/Shell Kuwait gave a presentation on SIMOPS & MOPO, which can be elaborated as Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) study that addresses the hazards and the risks arising out of Simultaneous operations like brown field construction activities and Manual of Permitted Operations (MOPO) which is the matrix derived out for various simultaneous operations. Attendees actively participated in the technical session and found it interesting. The presentation was followed by question and answer session.
As an honor of appreciation, ASSE Kuwait chapter Core Committee along with Fares AlMansouri, Team Leader QHSE KOC honored the speaker Dr Tamer with a memento.
The Technical Meet concluded with close out speech of Jahid Thakor, Treasurer of ASSE Kuwait Chapter who thanked Dr Tamer Hafiz Said for giving an insight on the topic and, Fares Al-Mansouri, Team Leader QHSE KOC & All Advisory & Executive Commitee members for gracing the ocassion. He thanked the Technical Events committee for the arrangements and all the participants, who attended the technical meet.
