LONDON, Feb 11, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s effective contributions to buttress pillars of regional stability is immensely valued, Alistair Burt, British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa Affairs said Sunday.

His Highness the Amir plays multiple positive roles when it comes to defusing tension in the region; the most recent of which was the mediation efforts among Gulf countries, as well as donor conferences to help the Syrian people, Burt told KUNA and Kuwait TV.

A pivotal politician, who spares no time or effort to preserve interests of the Gulf Cooperation Council in particular, and the region in general, Burt said of His Highness Sheikh Sabah, expressing at the same time the British government’s utmost admiration to such efforts.

He also applauded the State of Kuwait’s foreign policy, which he said had always been based on reason and respect to neighboring countries, noting that Kuwait is presenting itself as a major player, a partner and a role model in the area.

On the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq (KICRI), due to kick off tomorrow (Feb 12-14), Burt underlined the timing, especially with security prevailing after eliminating the presence of the so-called Islamic State (IS).

He reaffirmed his country’s partnership with Iraq, as well as honoring long relations with regional countries, especially Kuwait, which according to him, could be instrumental in securing the political stability of post-IS Iraq.

Meanwhile, Member of the House of Lords, Baroness Emma Nicholson of Winterbourne, saw that KICRI as a real start for Iraq’s recovery and return to normalcy.

She also praised the humanitarian role of His Highness the Amir, as well as His Highness’s support to various international charitable organizations, including the one she heads, AMAR Foundation; an award-winning charity working in the Middle East and helping vulnerable communities to rebuild their lives when faced by conflicts.

She pointed out that the generosity of His Highness towards the Foundation enabled it to build schools for the orphans in the Iraqi city of Basra.

KICRI will see the participation of a number of contributing countries, international and regional organizations.

It will be chaired by five parties; Kuwait, Iraq, the European Union (EU), the United Nations (UN) and the World Bank (WB).

Undersecretary of Ministry of Higher Education Dr Sabeeh AlMukhaizem denied ratifying cultural offices for enrolling students in the universities that violate the decisions of Ministry of Higher Education, stressing that the cultural offices represent the ministry at the countries of scholarships, reports Al-Anba daily.

He clarified that the cultural offices are authorized to facilitate admission of students only in the universities that are recognized by the ministry.

Dr Al-Mukhaizem affirmed that the Department of Equalization of Certificates is doing its job perfectly in coordination with the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

He indicated that the students who resorted to the court have violated the decisions of the ministry concerning equalization of certificates.

Dr Al-Mukhaizem affirmed the keenness of the ministry to maintain best educational outputs from different countries, adding that this keenness in turn enhances the commitment of the ministry to choose the best universities in the world.

He highlighted the continuous follow up of the scholarship students by the ministry.
