MEW plans water and power rationalization

Rewards for participants

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11: The government is committed to implementing Article No. 2 of Law No. 20/2016 concerning electricity and water charges and the possibility of granting rewards to citizens who participate in rationalizing electricity and water, reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed sources. They said enforcing this article will be based on specific criteria that aim at rationalizing consumption of electricity and water and reducing the burden on the public budget to pay subsidies for water and electricity.

Meanwhile, official sources denied the distribution of 300 plots in Shaddadiya, insisting that the stories circulating in this context are not true at all.

They affirmed that the distribution of plots in Shaddadiya is based on strict criteria that take into consideration a number of conditions such as the value added to the national project, capability to compete internationally, number of Kuwaiti employees, production amount and type of investment as well as capital amount and the source of energy to be used for running the project.

Meanwhile, Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) approved a request presented by the contractor handling the second phase of construction, execution, and maintenance of infrastructure for eight areas at the South Mutlaa Residential City project, reports Al-Anba daily.

Director of Mutlaa Electronic City Implementation, housing activist Meshal Al-Hajeri revealed that the contractor had requested three shifts in a day wherein each shift will cover eight hours to ensure a steady execution of the project according to schedule.

He countered an impression that schedule for the second contract at South Mutlaa City contained a percentage of the activities in January since the project began in March 2017, indicating the information is misleading.

He explained the percentage of activities was recorded within the month of January and not after completion. He said loads of other works were inspected by engineers from the housing authority, which if added to the rate of work done, would have wiped out any significant delay.

He stressed the concerned Chinese company did not use explosives, because it obtained the approval late. He reiterated a special store is being prepared for the company in a building belonging to the Ministry of Interior at Sulaibiya, and the work will commence in earnest after completion of preparations in that aspect.
