‘Ties strong’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 13, (Agencies): US-Kuwait relations are very strong, said US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson after being received by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah on Tuesday.

“We have a shared interest in terms of security for the region. We spoke about the importance of GCC unity; In GCC unity supporting security of the region as well,” he pointed out.

“We also talked about the

opportunities for economic relationships as well.” Tillerson referred to “the most recent transaction is Kuwait’s upgrading of its Air force with the purchase of F/A-18 aircrafts, its very important for Kuwait’s defense but its also important to the integrated security of the region.

“I think there will be other discussions of future economic opportunities as well”.

KUWAIT CITY: Restoring the unity of Gulf nations remains in the interest of all parties in the region, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Tuesday, urging them to resolve a diplomatic dispute over Qatar.

Last June, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain severed ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism and opening up the worst rift in years among the US allies. Qatar denies the accusation.
