KUWAIT CITY, Feb 13, (KUNA): The State of Kuwait which advocates full-scale security at the regional and international levels always seeks to cooperate with the Interpol, affirms Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah.

Terrorism, narcotics’ crimes, money laundering, organized crimes, boosted by modern technology, pose a threat to the international community, thus there must be ongoing cooperation to fight all forms of crimes, said Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah, during a meeting with a visiting Interpol delegation headed by the Secretary General, Jurgen Stock.

A ministry statement quoted Stock as underlining during the meeting Kuwait’s pivotal role in combating crime regionally and internationally, also underscoring the state effective steps to clamp down on terrorism.

The two sides discussed cooperation mechanisms, mutual employment of expertise and training plans. Meanwhile, Kuwaiti MP Askar Al-Enezi on Tuesday stressed necessity of promoting Arab causes and concerns to all European parliaments and the US Congress.

Al-Enezi made his remarks to KUNA at end of the third meeting of the Arab Parliament’s second session, and his participation in a session of the Committee of Social, Educational and Cultural in the Parliament.

He pointed to importance of intensifying efforts to reach European and American nations to clarify causes and events in the Arab world, especially with regard to confronting terrorism and extremist ideology.

He said that the Social, Educational, Cultural and Young Women Affairs’ Committee has prepared a unified Arab consultative draft law on higher education and scientific research, adding that the panel also discussed a “preliminary vision” on assisting refugees and displaced Arab women and children.

On Kuwait’s hosting of the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Iraq, Al-Enezi said that the Arab parliament hailed the generous initiative by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah hosting the conference, and Kuwait’s humanitarian role and keenness to ensure security and stability of Iraq and throughout the Arab world.

Action

Furthermore, Kuwait’s National Assembly and Arab Parliament Member Ali AlDeqbasi affirmed that reforming the Arab League and its affiliate organizations would give impetus to joint action in all domains.

Reforming the Arab League would help Arab countries achieve their aspired goals in various domains, notably the economy, national security, human rights and humanitarian action, Al-Deqbasi projected in a statement to KUNA on sidelines of Kuwait’s chairing of the meeting of the Arab Parliament’s committee in charge of the Arab League reform, held in Cairo Sunday. He noted that Kuwait is a “great believer” in the importance of the Arab League’s reform.

Arab countries have to increase synergy and cooperation to stand up to the huge dangers and challenges facing Arab national security and economies, he said.

He cited Kuwait as a role model in turning a new leaf to help cement Arab unity.

Kuwait has turned a new page in relations with Iraq after defunct Saddam Hussein’s regime attempt to wipe it out of the map, a crisis which hit hard Arab unity, he said. Tomorrow, Kuwait will host an international conference for the reconstruction of Iraq, he said.

Al-Deqbasi stated that a number of Arab Parliament committees have commenced their activities in Cairo Sunday, particularly the Palestine and the scientific research panels.

He lauded the effective and outstanding contributions of Kuwaiti MPs and Arab Parliament members in the meetings of these committees.
