‘Renovation of Al-Ghous Street one of most important projects authority is carrying out’
MPW awaits approval of KD 536m 2018/19 fiscal budget
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15: Director General of Public Authority for Roads and Transport Eng. Ahmad Al-Hassan disclosed that the authority has finished implementing important parts of the project for renovation and maintenance of Al-Ghous Street from the Fifth Ring Road to Sixth Ring Road, reports Aljarida daily.
He affirmed the keenness of the authority to follow up the project and its execution steps.
Eng. Al-Hassan revealed that the current completion rate of the project is ahead of the schedule because of cooperation among all parties involved in the project, indicating that the project is expected to be completed by end of 2019.
In a press statement, Eng. Al-Hassan explained that the renovation of Al-Ghous Street is one of the most important and vital projects that the authority is carrying out. It is estimated to cost a total of KD 77.3 million.
The project aims at facilitating the flow of traffic and enhancing safety to keep up with the traffic density as a result of developments in the surrounding residential areas.
He indicated that the authority has devised the best designs in accordance with criteria and standards adopted for such projects.
Meanwhile, Awatef Al-Ghunaim, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Public Works affirmed that the ministry is waiting for approval of 2018/2019 fiscal year budget estimated at KD 536 million, reports Al-Anba daily.
Engineer Al-Ghunaim hopes the new airport project will be completed by 2021 with all associated services, reaffirming it’s a massive project contained in the development plan.
She stated the ministry seeks the approval of concerned monitoring authorities concerning parking lots and hangars valued at KD 500 million. She noted the ministry is on the verge of prequalifying international companies and contractors to bid for implementation of the parking lots and associated services, especially under the airport project.
She stated the prequalification conditions for those projects will soon be announced by Central Tenders Committee, and the buildings of Jaber Hospital will be delivered gradually to the Ministry of Health prior to handing over of the entire project.
