Gearing for elections:
Minister of Public Works and State Minister for Municipality Affairs Hossam Al-Roumi said the Municipal Council and Interior Ministry will jointly issue a decree on constituencies and election schedule in preparation for the council elections, reports Al-Jarida daily.
In a press statement, Al-Roumi disclosed the tenure of temporary committees tasked to carry out the work of the council has been extended for four months. In case the election is held before this period, the committee’s tenure will end once the official election results are announced, he added.
Bonuses in May, June:
The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) spent about KD 360 million out of the KD 400 million budget for maintenance works in the current fiscal year, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting knowledgeable sources from the ministry.
Meanwhile, Undersecretary Eng Mohammad Bushahri said the ministry has collected KD 1.140 billion since the launching of its campaign to collect payments for outstanding bills in April 2012.
On the other hand, sources added about 1,500 employees will most likely be promoted by the end of March while the excellent performance bonus will be paid to deserving workers in May and June.
Rich program lineup:
With the start of a new season, Kuwait Commercial Arbitration Center affiliated to Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) resumed its activities with a rich program lineup that includes several workshops, conferences and seminars with the cooperation of a number of local, regional and international organizations.
The center Thursday organized a workshop titled “Comparison between Arbitration Laws” in a new cooperation between the center and the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), a division of US Department of Commerce.
The workshop was presented by a board member of the center Dr. Anwar Ahmad Al-Fazi’e, CLDP’s Middle East official James Philippe and International Arbitration expert Catherine Thomas.
Top judges, lawyers, economists and academics attended the workshop.
