Al-Jabri inaugurates digital radio broadcasting stations
‘Audit’ examines KD 2.353b worth of transactions in Jan 2nd Arab Poetry Festival for Children to be held in April
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18, (KUNA): Minister of Information Mohammad Al-Jabri inaugurated on Sunday the new generation of digital DAB+ audio broadcasting stations in Al-Metlaa north of Kuwait City.
The minister, in a statement to KUNA and Kuwait Television, indicated that launch of the digital broadcasting service was part of a plan that began two years ago.
The Ministry of Information acts with inspiration from Kuwait Vision 2035 Dar Suad Al-Sabah for Publishing and Distribution has been working on preparations for organizing the second season of Arab Poetry Festival for Children which will be held in April with the cooperation of Kuwait National Library.
The theme of the festival this year is “Suad Al-Sabah Festival for Arab Youth Literature”. It will witness participation of distinguished children and is aimed at identifying and nurturing talents

among Arabic speaking citizens and residents in Kuwait regardless of their nationality.
In this regard, Dr Suad Al-Sabah said she, through this festival, aims at contributing to the preservation and good dissemination of sound Arabic language on a wider scale as well as raising the taste level for literature among the people of Kuwait particularly the youth segment.
The first training session was held at the Heritage Hall in the development strategy, he added.
Fahem Al-Shemmari, a broadcasting engineer at the ministry, affirmed that listeners would enjoy very clear sound. The digital broadcasting is less costly as compared to the analogue audio service. A listener can tune in the station by searching for its name, instead of frequency.
Meanwhile, Kuwait State Audit Bureau (SAB) said Saturday it examined, during January this year, 311 bids, practices, contracts and agreements with a value of 2.353 billion Kuwaiti dinars (KD) ($7.8 billion). Out of these 311 transactions, SAB rejected 92 of them, said Khawla AlHathran, Acting team leader of annual reports, pre-audit and technical support, said in a statement.
She said the 92 documents were rejected because they lacked basic auditing requirements, like financial statement, original tender documents and approvals of the central tenders authority.
Al-Hathran said pre-auditing saved the state treasury KD 1.992 million ($6.6 million).
Meanwhile, Al-Hathran said SAB launched a new website which includes information about how the bureau worked. National Library building in the presence of Director General of the library Kamel Abduljaleel and under the supervision of Director General of Dar Suad Al-Sabah for Publishing and Distribution Ali Al-Masoud. The training session witnessed the participation of a number of poets. A group of youths from a number of schools across the country who expressed desire to partake in the festival were trained.
Kuwait’s robotics conference for students will be an opportunity for Kuwaitis to share experience with their GCC peers in the field, said head of Kuwait Robotics Center Salem Al-Kandari.
The conference will be held from Feb 19 to 20 with the participation of over 520 male and female students, said Al-Kandari. The event is organized in celebration of 15 years since the establishment of the center, he added.
On its part, the Regional Office of the International Movement for Leisure Activities in Science and Technology (Milset) said that the conference will include discussions and seminars to bring awareness to the importance of the robotics field.
It added that the office will organize competitions to develop students’ skills.
