Gulf Bank presents special nat’l celebration
Bank partners with Scientific Center for Dhow Harbor show
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: Gulf Bank is proud to be partnering with the Scientific Center, Kuwait’s premier science and educational organization, as part of its National and Liberation Day celebrations to deliver an exciting educational show which honors Kuwait’s seafaring history.
The show entitled ‘Besharat Fateh El Khair’ takes place at the Dhow Harbor of the Scientific Center. The show tells the tale of Fateh El Khair, which is the only ty, thus highlighting the cultural aspect of Kuwait and the human role which HH The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber AlSabah has played to position Kuwait as an International Humanitarian Center, while strengthening and enhancing all means of cooperation and understanding among all nations and civilizations.
He added that the partnership supports the KRCS to assume its role in the social and humanitarian aid.
It is worth noting that KFH had lately signed with the United Nations surviving Kuwaiti sailing ship from the pre-oil era.
The show opened on Monday, Feb 12, and the seven-minute show will run on daily basis, between 6:00 and 9:00 pm, and 6:00 and 10:00 pm on Fridays, from now until March 13, 2018.
The special opening night event included live music, speeches, and dinner, in addition to the actual show. The event was attended by representatives of both Gulf Bank and Scientific Center senior management, VIPs, and government officials.
Commenting on the collaboration with Scientific Center, Ms Laila Al-Qatami, Assistant General Manager of Corporate Communications at Gulf Bank, said: “We are glad to be working with the Scientific Center to hold the Dhow Harbor show ‘Besharat Fateh El Khair’ during the month of February, when Kuwait is celebrating its national and liberation days. Gulf Bank places great importance on education and cultural initiatives as part of its corporate social responsibility program and this show highlights Fateh El Khair and tells the story of Kuwait’s seafaring traditions, a vital part of our country’s history. We thank the Scientific Center and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences for the work they do on behalf of our country.”
Explaining the objective behind this initiative, Mrs Rana Al-Nibari, General Manager of the Scientific Center, said: “The Scientific Center has been hosting Fateh El Khair ship for many years to give visitors an insight into Kuwaiti heritage. We wanted to bring its story to life during the national celebrations, by hosting these daily shows for the public. It is a deep sailing ship that took 60 days to build with 18 carpenters working around the clock at a cost of 17,000 rupees. Thank you to Gulf Bank for partnering with us to make this educational and fun show happen.”
Gulf Bank proudly supports education and cultural initiatives, as such the Bank has been sponsoring to the 29th Memorial Journey for Pearl Diving, for eight consecutive years. The journey is organized each year by the Committee of the Marine Heritage of the Kuwait Sea Sport Club, under the Patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to ensure the younger generations understand the hardships faced by our ancestors. Additionally, last year the Bank developed educational workshops with Al Sadu Society entitled ‘Fun with Textiles’ that teaches children skills in crafts and textile art techniques while also preserving Kuwait’s Sadu traditions and heritage.

Al-Nahedh and Al-Sayer signing the agreement
High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) an agreement of $540 Thousand to aid 3,794 families of the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Al-Sayer expressed pride in KFH initiative, hailing the bank’s efforts in the social responsibility and its keenness to support the humanitarian programs in collaboration with the KRCS.
He voiced hope that all other entities would follow KFH track and participate in the honorable humanitarian work.
