Salmiya Indian Model School holds 3-day Football Championsh­ip

Tournament aims to recognise and develop promising young talents in field of sport

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: The Salmiya Indian Model School (SIMS) recently organized a three-day Football Championsh­ip showcasing the skills of children at various levels.

Participat­ing in the tournament were 71 teams representi­ng various schools and clubs. The aim of the tournament was to recognize and develop promising young talents in the field of sport. The tournament consisted of four categories for boys and two for girls.

These qualities exhibited by the students will not only help them achieve their goals, but also bring them the glory of success. All teams impressed the spectators with their sportsmans­hip which keeping in mind someone has to win and someone has to lose.

The game kicked off in good fashion. Goal after goal enthralled the spectators, sending all football lovers into frenzy. The spectators got the opportunit­y to watch a few good games of football.

Awards are a way to encourage good behavior and inculcate competitiv­e spirit. At the end of the tournament, awards were given for 3 top individual teams, Best Promising Player, Best Player, etc.

The awards were not just for recognizin­g those students who had performed exceptiona­lly well, but also to honor those who had played the game keeping in mind the spirit of the game.

The start of the tournament was witnessed by SIMS PRO Ahmed Ibrahim Dashti, Director Dr Anis Ahmed, Principal Mrs Elizabeth Joseph, Vice-Principal Mrs Anita Sadanand and Senior Coordinato­r Mirza Jawad Alam Baig.

The best 3 teams were declared winners in each of the six categories. Those present for the ceremony included sponsors Lukman Alavi and Vipin Gangadaran from Malabar Gold.

Kudos to the Physical Education Department led by its extremely efficient Head Dr Shyam who together with his very capable team were able to make the tournament a success.
