KUWAIT CITY, March 13: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has announced that the labor relations departments in different governorates have so far registered 23,500 absconding complaints, reports Al-Anba daily.

Director of Public Relations and Information Department and Official Spokesperson of the authority Aseel Al-Mazeedi disclosed that 50 cases have benefited from the grace period for withdrawing absconding complaints which began on Sunday.

Al-Mazeedi explained the authority is reviewing applications to withdraw absconding complaints filed after Jan 4, 2016 in accordance with the agreed procedures and regulations. She said the conditions include the employer’s agreement to withdraw the complaint, transfer approval from the concerned department and proof that the complaint is malicious.

She affirmed this step is taken in coordination with the Ministry of Interior in a bid to correct the status of expatriate private sector workers who violated the Residency Law. She called on all those concerned to apply for withdrawal of their absconding cases until April 22, 2018.

Preparations

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education will soon hire teachers locally as part of preparations for school year 2018/2019, reports AlAnba daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed the local contracting door will be open to expatriates, GCC nationals and Bedouns; indicating the Public Education Sector has specified the required specializations which will be announced next week.

Sources clarified the recruitment of teachers from abroad will be done only if none of those who will apply locally is qualified.

The fingerprints of employees in the Education Ministry, except those assigned in schools, will be linked with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) system to prevent manipulation as per the circular issued to governmental authorities, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily has obtained information that the linking procedures started gradually in various departments to identify technical faults if any. Sources affirmed this will tighten control over the attendance of and leave of employees.

Bonus

In the meantime, the Ministry of Social Affairs has prepared a list of employees who are eligible for excellent performance bonus and asked the Ministry of Finance to pay the bonus, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.

Sources disclosed the budget allocated for the excellent performance bonus ranges from KD1.5 million to KD 1.6 million, indicating the amount will depend on the functional degrees and designations as follows: KD 2,000 for assistant undersecretaries; KD 1,500 for directors of departments; KD 1,250 for supervisors and KD 1,000 for heads of departments.

Director of Audit and Engineering Followup Department at the Kuwait Municipality branch in the Capital Governorate Eng Yousif Al-Bathaly has unveiled a plan to look into irregularities in construction systems and take legal action immediately, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Bathaly said the inspectors of the department carried out a campaign to inspect real estate properties in Sharq recently and this led to the issuance of warnings to seven investment real estate properties in the area for violating the regulations.
