Kershaw dominates but Dodgers fall to Brewers

WASHINGTON, March 13, (RTRS): Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw struck out seven in 3 2/3 scoreless innings on Monday but the Milwaukee Brewers rallied to post a 7-6 victory at Glendale, Ariz.

The left-handed Kershaw gave up two hits and walked one during his scoreless stint. He hasn’t allowed a run in 9-2/3 innings this spring.

Milwaukee’s Ji-Man Choi hit a grand slam to center in the sixth inning to give his squad a 5-3 lead. Keston Hiura and Christian Bethancour­t also homered for the Brewers.

Justin Turner and Chase Utley each had two hits for the Dodgers.

Ian Kinsler hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first inning and Albert Pujols drove in two runs as Los Angeles beat Cincinnati at Tempe, Ariz. Righthande­r Homer Bailey allowed four runs and six hits in four innings for the Reds.

Michael Saunders hit a three-run double, Salvador Perez connected on a solo blast and right-hander Jakob Junis struck out seven in four hitless innings as Kansas blanked San Diego at Surprise, Ariz. The Padres had just two hits.

Jose Ramirez hit a two-run triple and Bradley Zimmer homered as Cleveland downed Texas at Goodyear, Ariz. Luis Marte homered for the Rangers.

Sandy Leon hit two solo homers and Blake Swihart also went deep as Boston defeated Toronto at Dunedin, Fla Aledmys Diaz homered and Justin Smoak drove in three runs for the Blue Jays.

Luis Sardinas stroked a tiebreakin­g two-run double and Jonathan Schoop homered as Baltimore knocked off Pittsburgh at Bradenton, Fla. Jose Osuna delivered a two-run single for the Pirates.

Chris Dominguez lined a goahead single in the eighth inning and Washington went on to defeat Detroit at Lakeland, Fla. Mike Gerber homered for the Tigers.

Ryan McMahon drilled a two-run double and Mike Tauchman had an RBI triple as Colorado defeated Arizona at Scottsdale, Ariz. David Peralta had a run-scoring single for the Diamondbac­ks.

Steven Duggar hit a two-run homer and Nick Hundley smacked a three-run double during a five-run fifth inning as San Francisco edged Oakland at Mesa, Ariz. Stephen Piscotty and Franklin Barreto homered for the Athletics.
