KNSPC denounces video clip of children’s wrestling competition
MoH panel to review and update ministry’s structure
KUWAIT CITY, April 3: Kuwait National Society for Protection of Children (KNSPC) denounced a video clip, which went viral on various social media platforms, showing children engaged in a wrestling competition organized by a sports company, reports Al-Qabas daily.
In a press statement, the society expressed astonishment over the way the innocence of children was transformed through the so-called ‘children wrestling competition’ as the children were engaged in different fighting techniques and practices which promote violence.
The society also stressed that the law guarantees the children’s right to exist and grow in a healthy environment with various preventive and protective measures in place to shield them from all forms of violence, harm and physical abuse.
The society then called on official bodies, especially the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and Public Authority for Youth and Sports, to take the necessary steps to eliminate practices deemed harmful to children.
Health Minister Dr Sheikh Basel AlSabah issued a ministerial resolution on the formation of a team to review and update the ministry’s organizational structure in coordination with the Civil Service Commission (CSC), reports Al-Rai daily.
The minister also issued a decision on the appointment of Dr Fatma AlNajaar as Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Services and Dr Abdullah Monjid Al-Badr as Assistant Undersecretary for Food and Drugs Control Affairs.
Meanwhile, sources from the health sector told the daily there has been a suggestion to appoint Dr Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi as Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs replacing Dr Waleed Al-Falah whose resignation will take effect on April 15.
Sources disclosed that in view of the nomination of Al-Badr as Assistant Undersecretary for Food and Drugs Control Affairs, the assistant undersecretary for Drugs and Medical Preparations post remains vacant. Sources added Dr Yousif Al-Dowairi took charge of the sector after former Health Minister Dr Jamal Al-Harby issued a decision to separate it from the Food and Drugs Control Sector.
