BIKE Club now a legitimate, duly recognized organization by Philippine Embassy
BIKE-Kuwait mission to promote interest in bike safety
KUWAIT CITY, April 3: The Bikers in Kuwait Encounter (BIKE CLUB) is now a legitimate and duly recognized organization by the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait.
BIKE-Kuwait mission is to create a healthy, cyclists and family friendly environment with a focus on education, training, safety advocacy and fellowship in order to make Kuwait one of the best cycling community in the Middle East. This is to promote the interest in bike safety and actively encourage the planning and development of safe biking facilities as well as holding regular schedule of sporting events and to be a better partner in the healthy Kuwait society.
It was on December 2000, when a few MTB enthusiasts formed a group of cyclists called BIKE. Then, the numbers grew year by year. Every Friday, the members met at Kuwait City as the starting point for every ride. In 2013, the hardcore members decided to create a structure for the Bike Club. Constitution and By-laws were promulgated, then decided to elect the first set of officers.
After 17 years of the history of the club, the Bike officers gathered on March 24, 2018 and registered the club at the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait. Induction Ceremony and Oath of Office was held, officiated by His Excellency Ambassador of the Philippines to Kuwait Renato Pedro O. Villa.
The Bike Club Board of Officers are, Ariel P. Delmoro — President, Leonard Tan — Vice President, Efren Quito — Secretary, Ernesto Jun Torno — Asst Sec, Orbel Delos Santos — Treasurer, Romeo Tribunalo — Asst Treas. Gerald Paul Magampon, Adrian Yatar — Event coordinators. Romeo Mangunay, Peter Conquillo, Mohamad Elkhayat, Joseph Maddela, Gilbert Delos Santos- Ride coordinators. Nelson Manuel, Islam Abousaid, Raoul Vasquez,Sajid Avila, Ciril MansuetoLogistics coordinators.
Some of the accomplishments of the club are the yearly charity works for the less fortunate. Some of our members had joined several cycling race both in Kuwait and abroad. Some had participated in the prestigious Ironman Triathlon, Challenge Triathlon and also with the Flying Start Triathlon in Kuwait.
To date, the club’s total members composed of professional skilled workers and various nationalities had reached to 399 on record with active members of around 120, and still growing as the largest cycling club in Kuwait.
