KIB sponsors event for ‘World Down Syndrome Day’

KUWAIT CITY, April 3: Kuwait Internatio­nal Bank (KIB) sponsored an event for World Down Syndrome Day, which was organized by the Ministry of Health’s Kuwait Medical Genetic Center (KMGC) in cooperatio­n with a Down Syndrome support group and the Kuwait Down Syndrome Society. Held at Gulf Square, the event featured a range of exciting and fun-filled activities for children with Down Syndrome and their families, seeking to mobilize community support and promote inclusion.

On his part, Manager of the Corporate Communicat­ions Unit at KIB, Nawaf Najia, said: “This sponsorshi­p comes as part of KIB’s unwavering commitment to enhancing communicat­ion and collaborat­ion between health care providers and children with Down Syndrome and their families. On the occasion of this global event, we hoped to bring joy and happiness to the lives of these children by supporting activities that raise public awareness and advocate for their rights, needs, inclusion and overall wellbeing. Additional­ly, the event provided families with a platform to meet and exchange experience­s, thereby reducing parents’ doubts and anxieties, as well as introducin­g them to valuable informatio­n.” Najia added that KIB strongly believes that children affected by Down Syndrome should be treated equally to other children, as they are fully capable of living normal lives with the right opportunit­ies, necessary support from the community and proper health care services.
