KUWAIT CITY, April 3: Kuwait and Gulf Link Transport Company (KGL) was honored by the Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudan for sponsoring the retirement ceremony of the former Al-Arabi and Kuwait national football team goalkeeper Ahmed AlJasim during the friendly match between Kuwait and Cameroon at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.

Engineer Fahd Al-Awadhi, received the honorary plaque on behalf of KGL during the opening ceremony of the friendly match between the two teams under the slogan and hashtag of “#…” in the social media channels. AlJasim said that this slogan is the least he could’ve done in remembering his late mentor, one of the most prominent goalkeepers in the history of Kuwait Samir Said, who helped lead the AlArabi team and the Kuwait national team to win several titles, notably the 1990 Gulf Cup, during which he was chosen as the best goalkeeper in the tournament.

The ceremony was attended by a number of KGL officials, along with other companies, in addition to a large number of AlJassim and Samir Said’s fans and supporters of the Kuwait National Football Team.

“KGL pays great attention to sports, specifically football”, said Al-Awadhi when accepting Al-Roudan’s honoring; noting that “the sponsorship of Kuwaiti football players is the least that KGL can offer for their efforts to shine Kuwait’s name, and KGL is a firm believer in the support and development of the Kuwaiti youth talent in sports.”

At the end, Al-Awadhi hoped that young youth would utilize their sports passion or other developmental disciplines that support His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s vision to achieve a prosperous society with the youth’s help.
