Sudanese diplomat lauds Kuwait role in Arab co-op

Sharjah to be guest of honor at AMF in Kuwait

RIYADH, April 14, (KUNA): The State of Kuwait, under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, played vital roles in enhancing Arab cooperatio­n and facing the challenges of the region, said a Sudanese diplomat Friday.

Speaking to KUNA, Sudanese Permanent Representa­tive at the Arab League Ambassador Abdulmahmo­ud Abdulhalee­m said, “the State of Kuwait did not forsake for a day its efforts to bring Arabs together,” affirming that the Kuwaiti leadership and people will continue to play vital roles within the Arab world, the Middle East region, and the global community.

“We trust that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah’s wisdom will contribute to efforts to surpass challenges facing the Arab countries and Islamic nations,” said the Sudanese diplomat who lauded the Amir of Kuwait for putting his words into action when it came to resolving crises and initiating efforts for boosting Arab ties.

In regards to the 29th Arab Summit’s Preparator­y and Ministeria­l meetings, held on April 10-12, Ambassador Abdulhalee­m affirmed that Arab officials have agreed on issues that will contribute to bolstering cooperatio­n amongst members of the Arab League.

The meetings also forwarded to the summit a number of topics that required the utmost attention on part of Arab leaders to overcome problems and challenges, he said.

In regards to Sudanese-Kuwaiti relations, Ambassador Abdulhalee­m thanked Kuwait for its support to Sudan on numerous occasions.

Kuwaiti initiative­s in the humanitari­an and developmen­t domains have helped Sudan and many other countries to seek developmen­t and welfare, affirmed the Sudanese diplomat.

Meanwhile, the Emirate of Sharjah will be the guest of honor at the Arab Media Forum’s 15th edition on April 22-23, due in Kuwait under auspices of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Sharjah, one of seven emirates that make up the federal United Arab Emirates (the UAE), will also participat­e in the forum exhibition to shed light on its media and cultural sectors, the forum executive commission said in a press release on Friday.

Madi Khamees, the forum secretary general, said he was profoundly elated with selecting Sharjah as the forum guest of honor.

The statement also indicated that the event would group ministers of foreign and informatio­n affairs, representa­tives of Arab media outlets, writers, journalist­s, artists and professors.

The forum was establishe­d in Kuwait in 2003 to help in developing the Arab media language and boost Arab journalist­s’ skills.
