KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The Court of Cassation released Attorney Hani Hussein without bail and postponed until May 17, 2018 the announcement of its verdict on the lawyer’s State Security case known as, ‘Bangladeshi doctor’.

According to the case file, the Court of Appeals upheld the ruling of the First Instance Court which sentenced Hussein to five years in jail for posting false news about a Bangladeshi doctor.

Hussein posted on Twitter that a Bangladeshi man took advantage of the long absence and death of his sponsor who worked at the Ministry of Health. The sponsor traveled to Sweden and stayed there for a very long time before his demise, prompting the Bangladeshi to steal his identity but the Ministry of Interior denied this.

Previously, the Public Prosecution questioned Hussein for posting on social media about a fake Bangladeshi doctor working in the Ministry of Health but the lawyer denied the charge.

At the time, the prosecution stated that investigations were conducted in total secrecy for the benefit of the public, affirming the objective of filing the case is to protect the reputation and integrity of doctors and other medical professionals in this country.

Meanwhile, the Juvenile Court has released a well-known minor (fashionesta) but ordered that she be placed under judicial surveillance for one year following her conviction by the court, reports Al-Rai daily.

The girl was caught with a bottle of alcohol and a quantity of marijuana upon her arrival at the Kuwait International Airport from Thailand.

The Juvenile Prosecution had released the girl on KD 500 bail. During interrogation the girl said she was unaware of the contents of the bag. She said her bag was prepared by a hostess in a hotel.
