LAF Kuwait celebrates World Health Day

‘70 pct of cancer is curable’

KUWAIT CITY, April 14: Life Again Foundation Kuwait, celebrated its second anniversar­y and World Health Day, on April 7, 2018 at American Internatio­nal School Maidan Hawally. The scintillat­ing star studded event, was graced by His Excellency Ambassador of India to Kuwait Jeeva Sagar, patrons of LAF Kuwait Dr Hind Hamad Ahamad Al-Bahar, Malek Essa Ahamad Al-Ajeel, and LAF founder Ms Gautami Thadimala along with Bollywood celebritie­s such as Shatrughan Sinha and Ms Poonom Dillon. The stars shone over the crowd brightly with their luminous motivation­al and meaningful words above their captivatin­g presence. LAF Kuwait President Venket Koduri, Vice President Dr Ananthi Natarajan, General Secretary Ms Neethu Singh, K.P. Suresh advisor along with other dignitarie­s adorned the stage.

During his welcome address, President Venket Koduri, welcomed the audience and introduced the organizati­on to the public. In her founder’s address Ms Gautami elucidated the motivation and mission of Life Again Foundation, its activities and future plans. LAF Kuwait strives to raise awareness about responsibl­e health practices and screening for lifestyle diseases such as cancer. We have been conducting regular health and yoga camps throughout Kuwait that have benefited both the Kuwaiti as well as expatriate communitie­s. It is delightful to note that LAF is now receiving amazing response and support from the people of Kuwait who have stepped forward with eager and enthusiast­ic participat­ion. She said that though Life Again Foundation was started following her victorious feat over cancer, now the organizati­on is looking far beyond just addressing cancer. Now LAF also attempts to address the basic needs to lead a successful or complete life which are education and health in general. She confided that after a lot of researchin­g on the ground needs we have now a wellrounde­d model which can address the very severe gaps in our education system and health care.

Bollywood icon, Member of Parliament and former minister of health, Shatrughan Sinha, said in his keynote speech that 70% of cancer is curable while that 30% which are not curable, are controllab­le with medicines and counseling, he stressed on the gravity of the threat called cancer especially oral cancer, due to use of tobacco. The ravishing beauty of ’80s and ’90s Ms Poonom Dillon was even radiating, while she talked on the importance of annual medical checkup and preventive vaccinatio­ns for cervical cancer in women which is unknown to many. The event souvenir release was led by His excellency Indian Ambassador Jeeva Sagar, Ms Gautami, Shatrughan Sinha, and all other dignitarie­s supported by LAF Kuwait core team members including Ms Shiny Frank , Ms Vijaya Nair, Ms Chinnu Korah, Nagehwara Rao and Ms Pragya.

The program was spangled with entertaini­ng dance performanc­es by dance schools in Kuwait such as Natya Veda School of Dance, Acharya Group of Dance and Dancing Divas. The event had a vivacious conclusion, with the popular south Indian cine playback singers N.C. Karunya and Ms Saujanya Madabhushi, rocking the floor with their exceptiona­lly mesmerizin­g musical performanc­e which pierced into the hearts of the audience.
