WASHINGTON, April 14, (RTRS): Four players have been suspended for their roles in a bench-clearing incident in Wednesday’s game between the Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres at Coors Field, Major League Baseball announced Friday.

Padres pitcher Luis Perdomo was suspended five games for throwing a pitch at Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado, who was also suspended five games for charging the mound. Rockies outfielder Gerardo Parra received a fourgame suspension for fighting, and Padres pitcher Buddy Baumann was handed a one-game suspension.

Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson was placed on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. The move is retroactive to April 11.

Donaldson has complained of a “dead arm” since spring training. He has served as the designated hitter in five of 12 games played this season. He was batting .239 with three homers and nine RBIs.

Toronto recalled outfielder Teoscar Hernandez from Triple-A Buffalo to fill the roster opening. Hernandez, 25, has batted .278 with two homers and three RBIs in four games at Buffalo.

New York Mets catcher Travis d’Arnaud will have season-ending Tommy John surgery, the team announced.

The tear in his right elbow was detected during an MRI exam on Wednesday.

Catcher Kevin Plawecki has been placed on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to April 12 with a hairline fracture in his left hand. Plawecki, who was plunked by a pitch in Wednesday’s game against the Miami Marlins, could return in two weeks or miss up to four weeks depending on his recovery from the non-displaced fracture.

Rookie Tomas Nido is expected to get more time behind the plate, and the Mets selected the contract of Jose Lobaton from Triple-A Las Vegas.
