Citizen ‘sentenced’ to six months in absentia, held with KD 143,000

Bedoun faults in-laws for his bid to commit suicide

KUWAIT CITY, April 19: A Kuwaiti citizen who is wanted by law for enforcemen­t of a judicial verdict that sentenced him in absentia to six-month imprisonme­nt, was arrested for swindling people and committing forgery through which he earned KD 143,000, reports AlSeyassah daily.

When security authoritie­s received informatio­n about a Kuwaiti citizen committing forgery by using fake government­al stamps, a team was formed for investigat­ions.

After confirming the informatio­n and obtaining a warrant, the suspect was arrested in possession of forged cheques, fake stamps and sum of KD 143,000 which he earned through forgery as well as equipment used for the purpose.

He was arrested and referred to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action.

Adel Shaker, the Bedoun man who set himself on fire last February in Jahra area, has put an end to the attempts made by several people to exploit his case through claims that the sufferings of illegal residents (Bedoun) in the country was the reason behind his act, reports Al-Rai daily.

Shaker denied the allegation­s made by some Bedoun people who claimed the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) was the reason for his attempt to commit suicide.

He clarified that CSRSIR has nothing to do with the matter, and that his wife’s family tried to convince him to commit suicide three times, all of which had failed. He was subjected to pressure by his father-in-law who filed several lawsuits against him. Due to this, he went to Jahra Police Station and his father-in law was summoned to the station to convince him to drop the case but to no avail, which was the reason why he set himself on fire.

Shaker revealed that he has a wife and five children, and he is unable to afford a better living for his family, adding that he wonders how he will pay KD 3,000 as bail bond and fine.

Woman reports youth:

An unidentifi­ed Kuwaiti youth has been detained at the Khaldiya Police Station for harassing a young compatriot woman, reports AlRai daily.

The daily added, the youth was arrested after the woman called her father and told him the youth followed her until she went to a cooperativ­e society and insisted to take down her cell phone num- Deputy Director General of the Prevention Sector at Kuwait Fire Service Directorat­e (KFSD) Major General Khaled Abdullah Fahad Sabah Tuesday led a delegation on a visit to a number of factories in Abdullah Port and Shuaiba areas in Ahmadi Governorat­e.

The father then called the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry and the police were on the spot in just three minutes.

The girl told police she had a flat tyre when on her way home and the youth helped her fix it.

He then, without her knowledge followed her and waited for her outside a cooperativ­e society until she did her shopping of these factories.

Under the guidance of Director General of KFSD Lieutenant General Khaled Rakan Al-Mekrad, Major General Khaled was taken on a tour to major companies to check and confirm that these factories are abiding by all fire-prevention conditions set by KFSD.

Before the visit ended, Major General Khaled expressed appreciati­on for the maintenanc­e of the security and safety equipment in the factories.

3 steal Asian’s KD 150:

Three unknown individual stole KD 150 from an Asian expatriate after

waylaying him in Jahra area, beating him and taking his wallet before running away.

According to security sources, the victim went to the nearest police station in torn clothes and reported about the incident, providing securityme­n with descriptio­ns of the suspects.

Securityme­n have launched investigat­ions to find and arrest the suspects.
