Kuwait for one Arab nation

‘Strong support for Palestinian cause’

-

“THE Kuwaitis reacted to the July 23 revolution in Egypt in 1952, although Kuwait was still under British protection,” columnist wrote for daily.

“This means the Kuwaitis had reconciled between love for their homeland even prior to the oil wealth and their love to the Grand Arab Homeland.

“Consequently, the first article of the Kuwait Constitution which was enacted post the country’s independence stipulates ‘Kuwait is an independent sovereign Arab state. Neither its sovereignty nor any part of its territory may be relinquished. The people of Kuwait are a part of the Arab Nation’.

“As a matter of fact, Kuwait and its people have embraced all Arab liberation movements from the grip of Western colonialism and its stepdaughter Israel. It is also the State of Kuwait that supported the Algerian revolution before the Egyptian revolution in the 1950s.

“Meanwhile, Kuwait has also embraced the foundation of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). Not just that Kuwait still remains in the warm embrace of all the good sons of Arabism, despite the fact that in recent years it has suffered from some of those who embraced them, but that has not changed its sound nature or reacted to get rid of its Arab skin.

“Kuwait, despite its small size, has a significant political impact, especially after it gained independence. It has become a leading Arab country and has practiced its foreign policy, especially when His Highness the Amir Sabah Al-Ahmad was Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“During the reign of the late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, the State of Kuwait and its people actually basked in sympathy and preference of eternal President Jamal Abdel Nasser and those who could be attributed to the true Kuwait positions towards Arabism.

“However, if the State of Kuwait is the bosom of Arabism, Egypt and its people are the mind and conscience of Arabism and Syria was described by AbdelNasser as the pulse of Arabism which still beats in Syria, despite the wounds in an attempt to silence the Arab pulse.

“Therefore, when Egypt was in deep slumber for a while, we saw how the Arab body was in a state of decay and every organ of this body was outside the control of Arabism. Not just that, this body was transformed into something to be dragged by the Zionists and Western colonialists to erase its identity and remove it from the Arab body.

“But the State of Kuwait has never been defiled by the said hands, as such it has remained as the nursing home of Arabism and this was recently embodied by the Arab Parliamentary Union Twentieth Conference which was held under the basic theme which concentrated on Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Arabism.

“Following this development, the Palestinian cause, has returned to become the central cause for the Arab struggle against Israel and Universal Zionism. In this context, we say the Kuwaiti hands were never defiled by shaking hands with the Israelis, and Kuwaitis have never dealt with the Israelis even for a single day.

“Kuwait has remained steadfast in its faith, despite the pressure exerted on it, by the wisdom of its leaders, who always embody the conscience of the Kuwaiti people.

“Therefore, we found how the world respecting the State of Kuwait, the Arab and the foreign worlds leaderships and peoples who love and welcome the sons of Kuwait. This love and respect are embodied and projected by the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit that was held recently in Istanbul, Turkey.

“On this occasion, we salute the struggle of the Palestinian people and their resistance to Zionism, where they have managed to topple the deal of the era aimed at the liquidation of the Palestinian cause.”

“No one, even an unfair follower, can ignore the Kuwaiti moves at external level towards the Palestinian cause,” columnist wrote for

daily. “Certainly, this role at the international level is not new, but today this role has started drawing the attention of the entire world in general and that of the Arab world in particular and this can be exactly attributed to the current powers of the State of Kuwait in its capacity as a non-permanent member -- along with ten other states -- of the UN Security Council for two years.

“In this context, we say that the mission of the State of Kuwait at the UN Security Council, since the very beginning of this year had started its activities by paying every possible concern to the Palestinian cause, notwithstanding, this could be deemed as an honorable attitude particularly under the hesitant attitudes of some other states and persistent violations committed by the Israeli occupying entity.

“In fact, in spite of a state of frustration which we are currently passing through represented by the UN Security Council deficit in terms of passing any resolution to protect the Palestinians, the attitude of the State of Kuwait was always based on a permanent endeavor by all means to achieve such purpose.

“In this context, we say the move was not confined to the official Kuwaiti move in the framework of the UNSC, rather His Highness the Amir still expresses obviously this move during every occasion and this was evident through his speech at the extraordinary summit of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that was held recently in Istanbul, Turkey.

“Besides this move, the Kuwaitis continue to support the cause and this was evident through the submission of the proposal to the UNSC calling for the adoption of the arrangements to guarantee the safety and protection for the Palestinian civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories including the Gaza Strip, given the fact the proposal called for dispatching international protection force to these territories.

“Certainly, this proposal shall once again expose the fake Western attitudes which falsely claim victory.”

“There is no argument that Allah the Almighty has blessed our country with a large number of philanthropists, because the country has long been accustomed to kindness and generosity,”

wrote for daily. “I wish to write about one such Kuwaiti woman hailing from the noble royal family who well known for her philanthropy. Sheikha Anisah Salem AlHamoud Al-Sabah is deep- rooted in several values and ensures that comfortable living becomes a basic principle in the Kuwaiti society, which is well loved by this noble family.

“One of such values upheld by Sheikha Anisah is the act of generosity to the needy, weak, sick, indebted, unemployed and old people, because Sheikha Anisah plays a vital role in humanitarian and moral aspects, which Islam encourages. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) also says, “The most beneficial people are beloved by Allah, and making a Muslim happy and relieving a Muslim of sorrow or paying his debt is loved by Allah the Almighty.”

“His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak recently held a series of meetings with important sectors in the state, which seeks to revitalize the reform spirit in the government work and try to address the existing problems and find solutions to government plans and programs,” columnist

wrote for daily. “Among the most important of these meetings was the meeting with the Standing Committee for the Improvement of the Business Environment and the Promotion of Competitiveness last week. His Highness stressed on the improvement of the business environment, the promotion of competitiveness, facilitation of licensing procedures, the reduction of the documentary cycle and the promotion of competitiveness which contribute to stimulating the economy and attracting foreign investments.

“During the meeting, Al-Mubarak stressed that the task of fighting corruption should be given the seriousness and attention it deserves, stressing the lack of complacency in holding those who fail to account for any negligence that would obstruct the achievement of the goal.

“This meeting is of the utmost importance as it focuses on the economic sector in the country and focuses on improving the business sector and demonstrates the insight of His Highness the Prime Minister.

“Al-Mubarak also met with Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah, Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Basil Al-Sabah and Head of the Government Performance Monitoring System Sheikh Ahmed Al-Misha’al and stressed on the importance of the health sector and the development of work as well as looking into the complaints of the citizens with regards to lack of services.”

“Some Western and Arab countries offer foreigners permanent residence in their countries if they can invest or purchase real estate properties worth specific sums,” wrote for daily.

“In Kuwait, many people have been living with us for almost over 30 years, but are still paying rent for their apartments since the first day they entered Kuwait. Those honorable expatriates are working with full dedication to a country that accommodates them and gives them opportunities for dignified jobs.

“If we calculate the total amount of money those people have spent on rents within those years, it must have exceeded the value of investments or apartments with which other Arab and European countries encourage foreigners to secure permanent residence. It is fair and humane to treat expatriates in our society well by preserving their rights as a positive payback for their dedication to this country.”

“I will not add to what the entire world has said about the speech delivered at the Istanbul Summit by His Highness the Amir — may Allah the Almighty protect and guide him,” wrote for daily.

“The Amir’s speech, which was frank and clear, has attracted commendations from the East and West. It has put dots on the words and laid down the roadmap for the next stage, including the conditions for permanent peace, which all citizens of the Arab region are dreaming about without exception. The current plight of Palestinians was established in the speech such that he spoke on their behalf and approached the whole world in a simple well-understood and realistic manner.

“The Amir’s speech was the height of that summit, and even the main pivot of it. This is the reason the entire world reacted to the speech and everybody showered encomium on it. Kuwait’s presence at the summit was conspicuous. This is the reason we can’t say more than what the entire world has already said about the speech.”

“What if Russia changes its policy? It is a possibility. Russia is not only a superpower but a country equivalent to the United States in its ability to impose control and shape the international policy as well as influence international decision-making in the United Nations. Russia today plays a role that is more effective than during the era of the Soviet Union,” wrote for daily.

“What if Russia changes its current anti-American and European stances to some extent in terms of political positions and alliances with other countries especially China, Cuba, North Korea, Iran, Syria and others halfway between Moscow and Washington in Europe, Asia and South America? Will the world stand with only one country that controls the decisions and politics, and defines what is wrong and right in the behavior of countries?

“The world has had a bad experience since the fall of the Soviet Union on December 26, 1991 with the United States assuming the role of world police on all the countries. The United States unilaterally and unjustly has the right to wage wars against a group of nations.”
