Indian ambassador to visit diwaniyas

Thai envoy congratula­tes the people of Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, May 23: The Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Jeeva Sagar says the Holy Month of Ramadan is a sacred season of worship, purificati­on and reconcilia­tion with oneself and others, reports AlRai daily.

He said, “The work of government employees will continue during the month of Ramadan to provide services for the well-being of both Indians and Kuwaitis. However, we will avoid unnecessar­y activities”.

The ambassador affirmed that the embassy will maintain a quiet dignity coupled with service with due respect to Islamic religious traditions and practices. He revealed about his intention to visit all important diwaniyas and meet with leaders in order to build friendship­s and convey greetings of the Government of India and her people as well as to congratula­te them on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The ambassador affirmed his desire to experience Ramadan, not only from the perspectiv­e of the Islamic religion, but to understand it in the context of the culture and traditions of Kuwait and the peaceful nature of the Kuwaiti people.

“Kuwaiti diwaniyas during the month of Ramadan represent a unique phenomenon”, says Thai Ambassador to Kuwait HE Dusit Manapan, reports Al-Rai daily.

He affirmed that he enjoys this special phenomenon which is an important part of the social identity of the people of Kuwait.

The ambassador congratula­ted the people of Kuwait on the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan, wishing them many returns of the blessed month filled with happiness, peace and security.

He said the working hours of the Embassy of Thailand will not change during the month of Ramadan.

The ambassador indicated that he carries out his daily duties during the day time and has been keen on visiting diwaniyas during the nights to congratula­te the people on the Holy Month of Ramadan, considerin­g it as a unique experience on its own.

He said he has been lucky to experience special Ramadan moments during his tenure in this country, which he described as a tolerant and peace loving. On a lighter note, the ambassador indicated his tendency to resist many invitation­s during this month in order to avoid gaining weight.

He affirmed that Thai Muslims practice fasting and other acts of worship similar to Kuwaitis even though they have their own rituals.
