Ministry reiterates crackdown on those who cheat in exams

Egyptian trio accused of murder go to Prosecutio­n

KUWAIT CITY, May 23: The Criminal Court acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of peddling drugs, and sentenced his friend to five-year imprisonme­nt for consuming and peddling drugs.

According to the case file, the two suspects were arrested by an undercover agent affiliated to the Drugs Control General Department. The agent had affirmed that his investigat­ions had led him to the first suspect who he suspected of possessing drugs for use and peddling. When he searched the suspect, he found a packet of “Chemical” drugs. The suspect admitted that the drugs were intended for his use but the source of the drugs was his friend. The agent assigned the first suspect to contact his friend to supply the drugs and to receive the payments of the last contraband. The friend (second suspect) was arrested in his house and he confessed to selling drugs to his clients.

In court, Lawyer Enam Haidar, who represente­d the second suspect, called for the invalidati­on of the arrest-and-search procedures that were conducted without a legal warrant from the Public Prosecutio­n, adding that the provisions of article 85 of the Penal Code were violated.

Trio go to Prosecutio­n:

Three suspects who were taken into custody in the murder of an Egyptian on the fourth day of Ramadan in Farwaniya have been referred to the Public Prosecutio­n, reports AlAnba daily.

During interrogat­ions by the Farwaniya police the suspects are said to have admitted to the charge. They are said to have given minute details about the incident.

According to security sources, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has charged one of the three men with premeditat­ed murder after it was establishe­d the man had a knife in his possession.

The fight was over financial matters. The other two men have allegedly denied any role in the crime.

Cheats face crackdown:

Despite tough measures adopted by the Ministry of Education to counter the phenomenon of cheating, some students continue to violate the regulation­s which threaten their future, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily added, on the first two of the exams, dozens of students from Grade 12 were caught cheating.

In one of the examinatio­n halls, an unfortunat­e incident happened. One student who was using a miniature earphone to cheat in exams started bleeding and the device had to be extracted from his ear with great difficulty.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Education has said it is determined not to be lenient with those who cheat.

No more ‘fun’ parties:

A 22-year-old Kuwaiti has been ordered to evict an apartment from a residentia­l building in Salwa for holding what the authoritie­s said ‘fun parties’ at dawn during the Holy Month of Ramadan, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily quoting security sources said the youth was given 72 hours to pack his bags.

The eviction order came after neighbors complained to the authoritie­s.

When police rushed to the apartment, seven young women and three youths escaped sensing the arrival of police.

The landlord said the apartment was rented by an elderly woman, the mother of the suspect but it appears this was done without the knowledge of the woman.

Unpaid debts:

A Kuwaiti citizen who is wanted by law for nonpayment of debt worth KD 21,000 was arrested in Hawally area, says AlSeyassah.

According to security sources, officers from the Public Security Sector were patrolling Hawally area when they suspected a 4WD vehicle and ordered the driver to pull over.

They checked his details and discovered he is a Kuwaiti citizen against who a case was filed for a debt worth KD 21,000.

He was arrested and referred to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti woman wanted by law for a financial case worth KD 2,095 was arrested in Salmiya area and referred to the concerned authoritie­s.
