Companies occupying govt land warned

KUWAIT CITY, May 24: The Safety and Security Department at the Kuwait Municipali­ty branch in Mubarak AlKabeer inspected companies using State land without obtaining a permit.

The inspection campaign was carried out simultaneo­usly with the launching of the media campaign entitled, “Contact Us,” aimed at raising public awareness on the repercussi­ons of using State land illegally.

In a press statement, Director of the department Eng Maysaa Boushahri disclosed the inspection campaign resulted in the issuance of two citations for using State land illegally – one of the erring companies put containers in an area measuring 2,412 square meters, while the other company was found using State land measuring 2,859 square meters without permission. The total value of both violations is KD21,256.

Boushahri also affirmed issuance of warnings to several companies to vacate the land they are using without permission. At the end of the period stipulated in the warnings, citations will be issued to erring companies, she added.

Meanwhile, Director of Engineerin­g Audit and Follow-up Department at the Municipali­ty branch in the Capital Yousef AlBidhali said the branch processed 2,007 transactio­ns in April.

Giving a breakdown of these transactio­ns, Al-Bidhali revealed the branch issued 234 specificat­ion certificat­es, made 101 pledges, connected 164 buildings to the electricit­y grid, and surveyed 341 industrial plots.
