KUWAIT CITY, June 2: The Public Relations and Security MediaGeneral Department in the Ministry of Interior announced that Articles 41/2 and 41/5 of the Traffic Law and its amendments, which allow police stations to issue reconciliation order for minor traffic accidents, will be implemented starting from Sunday.

The statement issued by the department explained that the objective of this measure is to save the effort and time of the general public whenever they are involved in minor traffic accidents.

The ministry is keen on ensuring speedy processing of transactions, while the new procedure will be implemented first in the Capital Governorate on an experimental basis, and then it will be enforced in the other governorates, the department added.

The department also affirmed that the ministry is fully prepared for the implementation of the decision as the concerned personnel took the necessary training courses which allow parties involved in a minor accident to go to the nearest police station where they will be issued the reconciliation order without waiting for traffic police to process the transaction.

Meanwhile, Director General of Investigation Department Major General Fahad Al-Dosari revealed that he has coordinated with the concerned bodies to activate the reconciliation law for minor accidents. He lauded everyone who contributed to the successful implementation of this law, which is in the interest of the country and individuals.

According to the amended Article 133 of ministerial Decree No. 76/81 on minor accidents, if an accident does not result in injuries or deaths, or if the vehicles do not become immobile, those involved must move their vehicles to the shoulder without obstructing traffic. If the parties involved fail to abide by it, a citation will be issued to them for obstructing traffic.

Al-Dosari clarified this procedure is aimed at opening the road as quickly as possible after being obstructed by minor accidents. He called on the public to cooperate with the agencies to serve the interests of everyone.

Liquor with woman:

Customs officers at the Kuwait International Airport have foiled the attempt of a Kuwaiti woman to smuggle 18 bottles of alcohol into the country, reports Al-Anba daily.

The bottles were hidden in the baggage.

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department Major-General Mohammad Al-Sharhan had referred her to the Public Prosecution and the latter sent her to the Central Prison.

7 Iraqis held:

The Kuwaiti Coast

Guard has arrested seven Iraqis who attempted to sneak into the country aboard a fishing boat, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily quoting Coast Guard sources said the fishing boat was spotted inside Kuwait’s territorial waters opposite the Bubiyan Island. In a void attempt to escape, the boat of the Iraqis allegedly collided with the Coast Guard patrol boat as a result of which the fishing boat sank.

According to a security source the seven people did not know swimming and had to be rescued.

In the process one of them was injured and was taken to the Sabah Hospital. The rest have been handed over to the concerned authority for interrogation.

Wife assaulted:

Investigator at the Amiri Hospital has ordered the transfer of a Kuwaiti citizen to Sharq Police Station over allegations of physically abusing his Iranian wife on a regular basis, says Al-Seyassah.

Reportedly, the citizen took his Iranian wife to the Amiri Hospital

for treatment. He informed the doctor that she met with a traffic incident. However, examinations revealed that the injuries she sustained were due to severe beating.

When the investigator held a private discussion with the Iranian woman, the latter burst into tears and requested for help, revealing that her husband always drinks liquor and then beats her for no reason.

Securitymen were summoned to the hospital and they took the citizen to Sharq Police Station for investigations.
