Financial disclosure statements handled properly: anti-graft body
‘MoSAL studies amendment to draft law on charity work’
KUWAIT CITY, June 13, (KUNA): Kuwait’s anti-corruption authority on Wednesday warned that failure to submit financial disclosure statements in a timely manner would be dealt with strictly and may result in legal action.
“The anti-corruption authority is aware of information posted on social media revealing that a procedural error has shown that some financial disclosure forms have not yet been submitted,” its official spokesman Dr Mohammad Buzaber said in a statement.
He revealed that the Kuwaiti anti-corruption body is following proper procedures to address this issue, pointing out that some financial disclosure statements were released past the deadline.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor is studying an amendment to the draft law on charity work, reports Al-Rai daily quoting a reliable source.
The source said those holding political and parliamentary posts cannot hold a membership or chairmanship of a charity association and this condition will be added as a pre-requisite for approval of establishment of any charity organization.
The source added the social development sector of the ministry has prepared the proposal based on Article 6 of Law No. 24 of 1962, which stipulates that the association or club is forbidden to interfere in politics or disputes or promote sectarian or racial fanaticism.
The source added the management of charity societies particularly its development sector has been under pressure prompting the sector to submit the proposal.
In the meantime, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) on Wednesday held a meeting under chairmanship of Oil Minister, Minister of Electricity and Water and the board chairman, Bakhit Al-Rasheedi.
Participants in the meeting discussed mechanism of implementing Law 13/2018 with respect of conflict of interests and impact on work conduct, applied in the oil sector.
Official spokesman of the Oil Sector, Sheikh Talal Khaled AlAhmad Al-Sabah, said in a statement that the board members discussed the agenda and proceedings for operating the Vietnam refinery.
